Software Engineer II, Backend (Infrastructure) at Affirm is an opportunity to help build infrastructure that supports cost visibility and financial sustainability across our cloud services. Responsibilities Break large projects into smaller tasks, deliver incrementally, and collaborate with cross‑functional teams to ensure timely delivery. Partner with product management, design, and analytics to articulate technical constraints, propose solutions, and evaluate trade‑offs. Support the operations and availability of team artifacts by creating and monitoring metrics, escalating issues, and participating in on‑call duties. Engage in community and growth activities, including contributing to the interview process and professional development. Qualifications 1.5+ years of software engineering experience, or related academic background. Proficiency in Python or Kotlin with experience building backend services. Knowledge of distributed system fundamentals and technologies such as AWS, MySQL, and Kubernetes. Experience in cost visibility (e.g., tagging) and/or cost savings through analysis is a plus. Strong coding skills: clean, well‑tested, and extensible solutions that integrate multiple components. Comfortable navigating large codebases, debugging, and providing constructive code reviews. Demonstrated ownership of personal growth and proactive feedback seeking. Excellent verbal and written communication skills for global collaboration. Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required. Compensation Pay Grade: LEquity Grade: 5Base pay: $125,000 – $175,000 per year.
