The opportunity

The Innovation Product Developer develops internal products as well as those requested by our

customers. In charge of their industrialization; develop appropriate specifications, procedures and control tools to meet both customer and consumer needs.


The role

Innovation

  • Ideation: stay up to date on market trends & developments to perform benchmarks and suggest innovative product
  • Coordinate with suppliers for innovative developments and products
  • Feed core & transformative innovation roadmaps (build briefs and concept decks)
  • Bring new innovative project to the feasibility phase (Execute with a 360 scope of the selected ideas)
  • Collaborate in the analysis of information in the development of new products


Product Development

  • Participate in the development of new strategic product/category opportunities
  • Develop knowledge of new and existing commodities.
  • Act as the expert and technical reference of the existing and newly developed products
  • Participate in the new product launch process
  • Create prototypes, new products and recipes for new internal and external customers
  • Perform physico-chemical analyses of the products developed and its components
  • Perform trials internally (in the lab, or with semi-industrial pilot equipment), as well as supporting external trials with co-manufacturers
  • Establish raw material specifications and finished product specifications
  • Create appropriate control processes, such as procedures and working tools (forms, etc)
  • Represent and respect the customer’s needs and specifications during the product development process.
  • Actively participate in the execution of the production trial process, as well as the first production process
  • Collaborate with the operations teams (quality and production) to transfer technical information
  • Remain up to date on pertinent laws and regulations
  • Respect and follow the food safety environmental programs in place (HACCP, SQF...) as well as other certifications (Organic, Kosher, non-GMO, etc)
  • Perform any other duties as required

  • None.


Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Food Science, Chemistry, Biology, or related fields.
  • 2-5 years’ experience in R&D in food & Beverage manufacturing.


Knowledge or specialties:

  • Prior food manufacturing experience in R&D.
  • Knowledge of project and product management
  • Knowledge of GMP standards and food safety regulations.
  • Experienced with Smartsheet and Microsoft Office.
  • Food enthusiast and taste explorer (ability to taste all fruits without any restrictions).
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to work autonomously.
  • Skilled at working in team environments.
  • Strong time management skills and ability to work on multiple projects with overlapping deadlines
  • Comfortable working in cold environments and handling dry ice; able to lift up to 20 lbs.
  • Able to travel (USA, Mexico)


Special Skills:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Plus if speaks French and /or Spanish
