Our client is an industry leader in industrial equipment and services in Canada. Based in the west end of the GTA, this is an onsite position. The Head of Finance will lead the financial operation of all the divisions within this business. As a key member of the leadership team, this position will be responsible in overseeing the daily accounting functions to support the goals and financial health of the organization. This is a hands‑on role, managing and building a strong finance team while planning, directing and coordinating all accounting operational functions. They will motivate, coach and effectively develop a strong team of financial professionals. The ideal candidate enjoys working in a fast‑paced, entrepreneurial environment. This is a hands‑on role, managing and building a team while monitoring the financial health of the organization. Key Responsibilities Oversee all aspects of financial management, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll and general ledger accounting Prepare reports which summarize and forecast business activity, financial position and cash flow needs Prepare and analyze monthly financial statements and provide insights into each of the company’s financial performance Liaison with the bank and external accountants Responsible for preparation of year end working papers Responsible for federal and provincial, sales tax remittances Ensure all business transactions are recorded in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles. Develop and implement the financial policies, systems and procedures of an establishment Prepare or co‑ordinate the preparation of financial statements, summaries, and other cost‑benefit analyses and financial management reports (i.e. Ad‑hoc reports and analysis) Co‑ordinate the financial planning and budget process, and analyze and correct estimates Evaluate financial reporting systems, accounting procedures and investment activities and make recommendations for changes to procedures, operating systems, budgets and other financial control functions Manage, lead and develop the finance team Establish profitability standards for investment activities and handle mergers and/or acquisitions Notify and report to leadership team concerning any trends that are critical to the organization’s financial performance. Qualifications 10+ years of full cycle accounting experience Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance along with CPA Designation Complete understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel Strategic thinker with demonstrated ability to identify problems and implement solutions Demonstrated ability to manage conflicting priorities and meet tight deadlines.
