Overview Reporting to the Chief Information Officer and Vice President, Information Technology the Principal Enterprise Architect serves as the organization’s chief strategist for integrating all enterprise architecture technology domains and business requirements to manage and direct the development of long-term technology plans and strategies for the entire organization, which support MBLL’s business plans, goals, and objectives. Responsibilities Lead the development, management, and maintenance of information technology roadmaps and strategies that support the MBLL Strategic Plan. Lead developing enterprise architecture with a strategic focus in areas such as operational technology, Cloud, resilience, integration, data, information, and business architecture. Develop strategies and long-term plans to build, maintain, and expand the relationships enterprise architecture has with stakeholders within ITS, across, and outside of MBLL. Represent the Division in MBLL’s annual strategic business planning process. Provide leadership and direction to Enterprise Architect (EA) in working with the Canadian Cross Jurisdictional Committee Enterprise Architecture (EA) group to advance organizational strategies and ensure organizational strategies are in alignment when appropriate. Provide leadership and oversight of the Architecture Review Board. Manage and prioritize IT strategies and roadmaps based on MBLL needs. Lead the identification of impacts to information technology roadmaps and strategies arising from changes in external technical and business environment (e.g. industry standards, regulations, mergers and acquisitions, trends). Develop plans and strategies while collaborating with other technology units (e.g., Corporate Security, Corporate Production) to align enterprise architecture. Collaborate with stakeholders in developing procurement plans that involve strategic technology purchases. Maintain alignment between MBLL’s operational technology, business strategy, and enterprise processes and systems. Oversee the development and maintenance of principles, guidelines, guardrails, and standards that direct the selection, development, implementation, and use of information & operational technical capabilities within the enterprise. Establish an appropriate enterprise architecture governance structure including processes and procedures. Work with appropriate stakeholder groups in developing enterprise architecture-related IT Policies. Collaborate with and support the Director, Technology Planning and Architecture in developing, delivering, and promoting the value of enterprise architecture at MBLL. Provide leadership, guidance, and direction to Enterprise Architect to ensure system and solution architecture, procurement plans are aligned with the EA strategies and roadmaps. Implement, execute, continuously improve, and evolve enterprise architecture at MBLL as organizational maturity increases in strategy, architecture, execution/product development, and operational support. Determine and approve the appropriate EA repository and tool-set. Lead and provide guidance and direction in researching a range of technology options to serve identified business strategies. Ensure that all Enterprise Architects are keeping up-to-date with industry regulations, standards, trends, best practices, and emerging technologies by attending conferences/seminars, regularly reviewing industry publications, books, internet resources, etc. Provide direction and guidance to Enterprise Architect in developing position statements on the MBLL’s use of technology solutions. Provide technical advice and recommendations to business stakeholders, ITS senior management, and Executive Management Committee. Establish and maintain positive working relationships with all internal and external stakeholders. Ensure effective communication and sharing of information, knowledge, and expertise within and outside the division. Establish communication plans and strategies. Present information to the Executive Management Committee and other committees when required. Represent MBLL at various meetings, events, and committees. Provide leadership through solid people management practices. Recruit, supervise, coach, and evaluate the performance of employees. Ensure that department employees provide excellent customer service. Provide training, guidance & direction and ensure positive morale, motivation, and development of employees. Resolve problems, resolve issues, and provide conflict resolution in a sensitive and professional manner. Determine, where required, staff discipline/corrective action within established policies/related documentation. Ensure all applicable policies and procedures are understood and adhered to by all employees and contracted individuals. Carry out all required duties and responsibilities of a supervisor of workers, as outlined under provincial safety and health legislation. Manage the workloads of all internal staff and contracted individuals assigned for supervision. Other related duties as required. Qualifications A Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, system analysis, business, or a related field of study, or an equivalent combination of education, certification, and industry experience. Twelve years of progressive experience in strategic and operations planning, technology strategy and/or business analysis. A minimum of five years’ experience in architecture domain (e.g. information, data, business, information security, etc.). A minimum of two years in enterprise architecture. Experience leading small teams. Strong communication and interpersonal skills and demonstrated political acumen. Currency with, and demonstrated conceptual understanding of, leading edge technology options. Proven project planning and management experience. In-depth knowledge of IT industry best practices, technologies, architectures, and emerging technologies across all IT domains (networking, servers, storage, application platforms, applications, software development tools and techniques, databases, internet, etc.). Excellent oral and written communication skills, including presentation skills, meeting facilitation, and influencing. Experience in building trust and creating excellent working relationships with partners and stakeholders. Experience tracking industry and regulatory standards relevant to business (e.g. LGA, Gaming Standards Association, Gaming Labs International, Payment Card Industry). Lifelong learning, in developing innovative ways of acquiring and transferring knowledge in complex circumstances. The core competencies for this position include achieving quality results, adaptability/managing change, communication, customer service, decision making and problem solving, integrity and building trust, teamwork and cooperation and valuing diversity. These competencies are deemed important for the success of the position and organization. Secondary Qualifications Experience in, or knowledge of, gaming, retail, or distribution industries is an asset. Industry credentials in Business Analysis and/or Architecture Frameworks are considered an asset. Testing may form part of the screening/selection process.
