Job Description Fortinet is looking for an experienced Technical Support Specialist to join our Ottawa, Ontario office and provide exceptional customer service and technical help for our loyal customers. The candidate will join our support team specializing in supporting Fortinet’s Centralized Management & SOC Solutions: FortiAnalyzer – Centralized Logging & Reporting FortiManager – Centralized Configuration Management They will also interface with QA and software development teams to solve customer problems, identify bugs, and promote our products while suggesting improvements to both products and documentation. Responsibilities Provide direct technical web and telephone support Ensure reported issues are well understood and necessary information is collected Troubleshoot FortiAnalyzer and FortiManager Recommend corrective actions based on analysis of collected information Provide customer education for networking, product knowledge gaps Consult technical documentation, bulletins, and release notes for known problems Reproduce customer environments using lab equipment and report bugs Recommend alternative solutions or workarounds Manage cases until closure, following up internally as required to obtain changes or solutions Manage customer communications and expectations until each case is closed Provide knowledge transfer to peer engineers Qualifications 4+ years’ experience in a technical support role in a networking/security company or equivalent education Strong understanding of TCP/IP, routing protocols, L2/L3 switches Experience with security products (especially firewalls and VPN gateways) Strong troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills Previous experience in supporting data networking products and/or security products Strong English skills, both written and verbal Good to Have Experience with Centralized Configuration Management Tools SQL syntax & select statement design VM/Cloud environments Linux administration (e.g., using YAML to update components) and troubleshooting (system files, processes, permissions) Educational Requirement Bachelor’s degree in computer science, software engineering or related field, or an equivalent combination of training and experience is desirable Benefits Fortinet offers a comprehensive benefits package including 100% company‑paid medical, dental, and vision coverage, Health Spending Account, Personal Spending Account, Employee & Family Assistance Plan, critical illness, disability, and life insurance, as well as a Group Registered Retirement Savings Plan (RRSP) with company match.
