Primary Job Title Enterprise Java Architect Microservices Alternate/Related Job Titles Senior Java ArchitectFull-Stack Solutions ArchitectMicroservices Technical Lead Location Toronto, ON Onsite Flexibility Hybrid (2 days onsite currently; 4 days onsite/week expected in 2026) Contract Details Position Type: Contract Contract Duration: 12 months Start: As Soon As Possible Pay Rate: C$100 per hour Schedule Monday–Friday, core business hours (OT as needed; occasional overnight support for deployments every few months) Job Summary The Enterprise Java Architect will enhance a critical, customer-facing, cross-banking money transfer application targeted for full commercial launch in Q4 2026. As part of a tier‑1 program, this role demands deep Enterprise Java expertise, strong full‑stack architectural capabilities, and proven experience delivering high‑impact online applications. The architect will partner closely with application owners, technical leads, and developers to solve complex engineering challenges and improve code quality, system design, and overall application performance. Key Responsibilities Collaborate with application owners and architects to design solutions for large‑scale, transformational engineering initiatives Ensure high‑quality Java coding standards; act as an advisor/champion to development teams Participate in application design reviews and enforce best practices Serve as the Java expert within the Pod, working with the Pod Tech Lead on clarifications and technical decisions Apply full‑stack system design expertise for single‑page web applications (beyond API work) Troubleshoot complex issues across front‑end and back‑end components Contribute to enhancements for a tier‑1 customer‑facing financial application with significant sensitivity and business impact Required Experience Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related discipline 8+ years of total experience in software development/architecture Strong background in financial institutions, technology, or related sectors Experience contributing to customer‑facing, online systems Ability to operate in metric‑driven, performance‑focused environments Nice‑to‑Have Experience Lead developer experience Experience supporting enterprise‑scale customer applications Required Skills Enterprise Java Full‑stack architecture (non‑API systems) Microservices / Micro front‑end Agile/Scrum methodologies Preferred Skills Experience with customer‑facing online applications Technical leadership or team lead experience TypeScript / React exposure Additional Skills from Original Description Single‑page application troubleshooting Complex solutioning with architects and application owners Coding hygiene enforcement and best‑practice development oversight Collaboration within 8–10–person engineering teams About the Company A top 10 bank in Canada and North America offering retail, commercial, wealth management, and wholesale banking services.
