Director, Cybersecurity, Innovation & Technology Algoma University is recruiting for the Director of Cybersecurity, Innovation & Technology. The role reports to the President & Vice‑Chancellor and will define, implement, and oversee the university’s cybersecurity strategy, IT architecture, and related practices. The incumbent will collaborate with the IT Team, staff, and third‑party vendors to translate risk‑management strategies into specific security controls and architectural designs enabled by modern technologies. Job Details Company : Algoma University Category : Education & Training Job Type : Permanent, Full Time Salary : $118,576 – $148,219 annually Closing Date : January 5, 2026 – 4:00 pm Posting Date : December 3, 2025 Location : Algoma, Ontario, Canada Responsibilities Cybersecurity Leadership & Risk Management (40%) – Establish and maintain an institutional cybersecurity governance framework; brief the President and senior executive on risk posture; oversee the risk register; develop security policies, standards, and procedures; design security architecture; lead awareness training; manage incident response plans; integrate cybersecurity into business continuity; oversee security solutions; evaluate security technologies; sponsor penetration tests and audits; collaborate with project teams on security integration. Enterprise Architecture, IT Strategy & Digital Transformation (30%) – Develop multi‑year IT and digital strategy; define and advance enterprise architecture; implement IT architectural standards and roadmaps; oversee data, cloud, and digital transformation strategies; lead major IT projects; evaluate technology investment proposals; partner with academic and admin leaders to drive innovation; ensure alignment across divisions. IT Infrastructure, Operations & Service Delivery (20%) – Guide design and implementation of IT systems; provide strategic direction for infrastructure, networks, cloud environments; define SLOs and KPIs; lead IT managers; support vendor and contract management; integrate continuous improvement initiatives; deliver cybersecurity and IT KPIs. Other Duties (10%) – Other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications Undergraduate degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Information Security, or related field and at least ten (10) years of progressive experience in cybersecurity and IT, or equivalent combination. Proven experience leading enterprise‑level IT operations, security or infrastructure; strategic planning and change‑management skills. Adaptability to evolving cybersecurity threats and organizational priorities. Knowledge of cybersecurity tools (IDS/IPS, firewall, MFA, SIEM, MDM, DLP, 802.1x, PIA). Collaboration with internal and external peers such as CUCCIO, OUCCIO, ORION ON‑CHECK, CCCS, etc. Experience developing and implementing security policies and procedures aligned with organizational objectives. Business acumen to align cybersecurity strategies with organizational goals, risk tolerance. In‑depth knowledge of security frameworks (NIST, ISO 27001) and risk management methodologies. Strong understanding of enterprise architecture principles (TOGAF, Zachman). Experience with cloud security and architecture preferred. Professional security certifications (CISSP, CISM, CISA) preferred.
