Clinic Details — Kelowna General Hospital Kelowna General Hospital (KGH) is one of two tertiary hospitals within Interior Health and the region’s main referral centre, with approximately 400 beds and over 84,000 emergency department visits annually. Adjacent to KGH is the brand‑new Interior Heart & Surgical Centre (IHSC), BC’s only cardiac critical care centre outside the Lower Mainland, featuring nine specialised operating rooms including two dedicated to cardiac surgery. The new Centennial Building houses an expanded emergency and ambulatory care department, larger operating rooms, a rooftop helipad and a satellite campus for the University of British Columbia Medical School. KGH is a teaching centre for the Southern Medical Program and is in its third year of training Royal College Emergency Medicine Physicians while also training Family Physicians. Practice Details The Psychiatry department at KGH offers an expanding opportunity for a General Adult Psychiatrist. You will provide services to KGH’s 30‑bed inpatient unit, 6‑bed Adult Mental Health Intensive Care Unit, consults to medical/surgical units and the emergency department, and maintain a community‑based practice. Responsibilities include patient assessment and treatment, collaboration with clinicians and managers, and development of policies and procedures. The team treats a serious and persistent mental illness population with intensive case management support. Additional opportunities include the Mental Health and Substance Use (MHSU) clinic, community telepsychiatry, teaching to medical students and residents, and participation in Interior Health’s NAVIG8 Emerging Physician Leaders Program.
