Base pay range $35.00/hr - $40.00/hr Location: Toronto, Canada Work Model: Hybrid (2–3 days on-site per week) Contract Length: 6 months (strong potential for extension) Start Timing: Early - Mid February (flexible) Rate: Please note the rate listed is CAD $ and T4 rate. About the Role We are supporting a large enterprise organization in Toronto that is expanding its digital analytics capabilities and looking to bring on an experienced Power BI Developer / BI Engineer on a contract basis. This role sits at the intersection of business intelligence, data curation, and automation. You’ll be responsible for building high-impact Power BI dashboards from the ground up, consolidating data from multiple existing sources, and ensuring dashboards are fully automated, reliable, and proactively monitored. This is not a reporting-only role and not a pure data engineering role — it’s ideal for someone who thrives in building and owning Power BI solutions end to end. What You’ll Be Doing Design, build, and maintain Power BI dashboards from scratch Write and optimize DAX to support complex, dynamic visuals Consolidate data from multiple existing sources (e.g., databases, Excel, SharePoint, other BI tools) Perform light data cleaning and normalization as needed Implement automation for data refreshes, checks, and monitoring Build proactive notifications to flag successes, warnings, or failures Troubleshoot and resolve data or automation issues before stakeholders are impacted Own the full lifecycle of dashboards you build (development, QA, automation, support) Partner with internal stakeholders to ensure metrics are accurate and meaningful Technical Environment DAX SQL (reading and understanding queries; heavy SQL development not required) Multiple structured and semi-structured data sources Automated refresh and scheduling processes (e.g., cron or similar tools) Required Qualifications 3+ years of hands-on Business Intelligence / Power BI experience Strong experience building Power BI dashboards from the ground up Solid working knowledge of DAX Experience consolidating data from multiple disparate sources Understanding of automation concepts (scheduled jobs, monitoring, notifications) Ability to troubleshoot data and automation issues independently Comfortable working in a hybrid, collaborative environment Strong ownership mindset — able to manage work end to end Nice to Have (Not Required) Experience in financial services or other regulated industries Familiarity with automation tools such as cron jobs Exposure to Power Platform tools Experience supporting digital products or internal business tools Interview Process Single interview (approximately 60 minutes) Includes a short live DAX / Power BI exercise Focused on practical, hands-on Power BI capability Why This Role Opportunity to own high-visibility dashboards used by leadership Work in a mature analytics environment with strong automation practices Clear scope and realistic delivery expectations (quality over volume) Strong likelihood of contract extension based on performance Seniority level Seniority level Associate Employment type Employment type Contract Job function Job function Information Technology Industries IT Services and IT Consulting, Banking, and Financial Services Referrals increase your chances of interviewing at Brooksource by 2x Sign in to set job alerts for “Business Intelligence Engineer” roles.
