Job Summary The Site Manager works closely with the Operations Manager to oversee the day‑to‑day operations of the Recycling and Waste Centre, including scale, waste handling and recycling depot operations. The role monitors compliance with safety and regulatory requirements and manages a near‑24‑hour, 363‑day operation. Position Responsibilities Ensure smooth operation of the facility in accordance with the operating contract. Ensure efficient handling of recyclables and waste to maximize production safely. Perform daily, weekly and monthly preventive maintenance tasks. Establish budgetary objectives and manage resources, including labour, equipment and supplies. Oversee up to 25 direct and indirect reports. Review and evaluate work to ensure quality, timeliness and adherence to policies and procedures. Supervise implementation of processes, procedures and programs to improve safety, productivity and profitability. Analyze site operating costs and present optimization measures to management. Support Supervisors to optimize crew efficiencies. Respond to customer service complaints and work to reduce complaints. Maintain high customer service standards and resolve any issues or conflicts. Manage all related union relations and liaise with front‑line employees for site‑related safety and operational concerns. Attend regular meetings with Metro Vancouver and report on facility operation. Lead, conduct and attend safety meetings to maintain favourable working relationships and promote morale, productivity and efficiency. Create and submit daily, weekly and month‑end reports to senior management. Skills & Qualifications Relevant post‑secondary education and related work experience are required. Prior experience in a managerial capacity is required. Strong understanding of operational KPIs. Proficient in MS Office suite (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint). A mindset that promotes a positive work environment. Strong communication and interpersonal skills and ability to work well with employees at various levels. Experience in the waste management and recycling industry is an asset. Experience in operational financial management is preferred.
