We are looking for an Electrical Engineering Manager in an industrial machinery environment to engage internal and external resources, including customers, to ensure high-quality deliverables within time and budget. The successful candidate stays informed of industry technology and can adopt new hardware and systems, provides direction and training, and regularly reviews work across the team in four major areas of electrical engineering: Electrical circuitry and electrical systems design for industrial machinery PLC programming, machinery start-up, commissioning, and operator training Role & Responsibilities Lead a growing team of 10 engineers, drive career development, and foster a high-performing, inclusive, collaborative culture. Provide hands-on technical management, guidance, and support, including system/design/code review, and ensure the health of the systems the team builds. Apply strong knowledge of Servos, VFDs, PLCs (Bosch, Rockwell/Allen Bradley, Schneider, etc.). Communicate project schedule milestones to department managers for resource planning. Adopt a customer-centric approach to craft and execute a long-term roadmap for Samco’s products and initiatives. Help prioritize work, make trade-offs on design or priorities based on business constraints, and ensure on-time delivery of high-quality software. Create, evolve and enforce electrical design standards. Approve quotations and supplier P.O.s prior to starting a project. Participate in project kickoff meetings and review engineering drawing packages for manufacturing, identifying budget and schedule needs. Conduct design reviews with customers and design teams; obtain concept/design and formal equipment approvals as required. Work closely with the Project Management team during development, shipment and installation; act as primary customer contact when needed. Approve design changes to be manufactured with or without formal customer consent. Conduct equipment reviews with customer, design, and assembly teams. Review status of purchased items and materials; generate and maintain open issues lists and project schedules. Develop, maintain and report on key performance metrics; participate in monthly department meetings. Coordinate project review meetings, customer FAT/runoffs, and lessons learned; support record-keeping and documentation. Support procedures and systems for organizing and retrieving project records; support records collection for SRED submissions. Recruit and represent Samco’s hiring brand and culture. Qualifications 5+ years of project management experience in automation or design and assembly of industrial machinery. University/college program in engineering, engineering technology, or electrical engineering. PMP certificate or equivalent experience is an asset. Working knowledge of design software such as AutoCAD Electrical; strong knowledge of electrical, controls and pneumatic systems, servos, VFDs, etc. Excellent organizational skills and ability to plan, coordinate and monitor projects with internal and external personnel. Strong management skills to promote optimal performance of reporting staff; analytical and problem-solving abilities; excellent oral and written communication.
