Position Title Digital Video Associate Producer (English Services) (On‑Site) Employment Status Permanent Location 700 Hamilton Street, Vancouver, British Columbia, V6B 4A2 Work Schedule Full time Job Overview CBC British Columbia is looking for an associate producer to play a key role in programming video that airs on streaming and on‑demand platforms, notably the CBC BC FAST channel, as well as YouTube, TikTok and O&O digital video spaces. This role is centered on the audience experience and the public service of curating, packaging and distributing news to reach new and existing viewers. Key Responsibilities Use strong editorial judgement, critical thinking skills, and creativity to source, assess, and present news video across a roster of platforms and playlists. Collaborate with assignment producers to enrich visual storytelling and develop effective workflows and compelling programming. Embrace CBC News priorities to meet the audience where they are through content distribution and responsive live coverage for breaking and developing news. Communicate and solve problems, manage technical challenges, competing deadlines, and changing media landscapes while understanding audience needs. Support and facilitate responsive live coverage of breaking or developing stories. Generate relevant, engaging and timely playlists of short‑form video that fit channel and platform goals for various platforms. Work closely with assignment producers to identify, adapt, and distribute compelling forms of video storytelling. Work independently to meet competing deadlines and engage with large volumes of fast‑moving information, ensuring clear communication. Candidate Profile University degree or equivalent. Minimum two years recent experience in a multi‑media news environment. Strong journalistic and communication skills. Proven understanding of and curiosity about digital video platforms and audience behaviour. Familiarity with editing software. Ability to navigate internal media management systems to source and curate video playlists for FAST and other digital video platforms. Experience using and analyzing digital video platforms like YouTube and TikTok. Ability to create relevant, engaging and timely playlists of short‑form video that fit channel and platform goals for various platforms. Ability to take direction and work closely with assignment producers to identify, adapt and distribute compelling forms of video storytelling. Ability to work independently to meet competing deadlines. Ability to engage with large volumes of fast‑moving information and ensure clear communication. Knowledge of CBC News policies for user‑generated content and internal media management. Ensuring inclusive language and framing in stories that accurately represent the diverse experiences of British Columbians.
