Overview Family Lawyer – Salary is based on experience. Range $105,000 - $150,000. We are seeking a skilled family lawyer with 5 years of experience for our client in the downtown core. They have a strong team and are continuing to grow This role is perfect for a self-starter looking to join an active family law practice. There’s a great opportunity to step in and start making an impact right away. While having an existing book of business is an asset, it’s not required. The right candidate will find strong support, a collegial team, and an enjoyable work environment. Note: This description reflects the current need and does not guarantee future openings. Responsibilities Work closely with other lawyers, paralegals, and support staff within the firm to provide comprehensive legal services to clients. Represent clients in family law proceedings such as divorce, child custody and access, spousal support, property division, and adoption. Maintain regular communication with clients to keep them informed of case developments and manage expectations. Stay updated on changes in family law legislation and precedents to ensure the provision of current and effective legal services. Prepare and argue cases in family court, presenting compelling arguments based on legal statutes, case law, and client-specific circumstances. Provide clear and concise legal advice to clients, explaining their rights and options under Ontario family law. Qualifications Licensed to practice law in Ontario, in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario. Proven experience (5 years minimum) as a Family Lawyer with a strong understanding of Ontario family law principles and procedures. Strong organizational skills with attention to detail. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment. Strong negotiation and advocacy skills, with a track record of achieving positive client outcomes. Availability to work on-site in downtown Ottawa initially, then transitioning to hybrid once familiar. Bilingual (English/French) is an asset but not essential.
