Instrumentation and Control Engineering (New Graduate) Attention April 2026 Graduates We are looking for a New Graduate Engineer for our Peterborough, Ontario site. This is a unique role for a new graduate to join the BWXT NEC engineering team into a 3-year rotational program that would expose the successful candidate to multiple roles in our Peterborough location. This rotation program would include 3-4 (approx. 12 months each) engineering assignments including roles in Instrumentation and Control, Mechanical Engineering, Pressure Boundary & Analysis Engineering, Systems Engineering Software Engineering, Project Management, Quality or Manufacturing Engineering. These assignments would depend on the candidate;s skillset, desire, and company business demands. BWXT NEC's Fuel Handling and Engineered Solutions group is involved in the design, manufacture, development, testing, parts supply, and service of on-power refueling, reactor maintenance, and nuclear medicine delivery tooling sold around the world. We are the original designer of the automated systems that allow 24/7 on power refueling of CANDU reactors and aim to solve some of the Nuclear Industry’s most challenging problems. Today, BWXT’s equipment is being used in most of the nuclear power plants in Canada and is critical to delivering carbon free energy production and lifesaving medical isotopes. Peterborough region: peterboroughed.ca/why-peterborough/live/ Responsibilities Execution of design/analysis/test/commissioning of complex equipment and systems. Prepare elementary/schematics, electrical assembly drawings, single line diagrams, equipment specifications, technical documents, and applicable codes and standards. Produce and update detailed electrical and instrumentation and control general assembly drawings, interconnection block diagrams, functional block diagrams, cable assembly drawings, wiring diagrams, wiring lists, and bills of material Selection of instrumentation and control components Participate in design reviews and occasional customer review meetings Liaise with customer design, operations, and maintenance personnel to gather site-specific design information. Execute walk-downs of various equipment in the plant. Prepare and present technical data to internal and external customers. Ensure designs comply with applicable company, technical, and regulatory standards. Support the development and estimating of engineering proposals. Qualifications/Requirements New graduate with a Bachelor of Engineering degree in either Electrical, Mechanical, Mechatronics, or Aerospace with exemplary academic achievement. Co-op or internship experience in design engineering in Nuclear, Aerospace, Mining, Oil and Gas, or other highly regulated and process based design. Excellent written and oral communication skills, understandable by a diverse audience. Competence in design and design processes. Creative problem-solving skills, outstanding analytical abilities, developing leadership skills and the ability to work in a team. Flexibility to work remotely on short-term customer site assignment. The base salary range for this position in Ontario at the start of employment is expected to be between $68,000 and $90,000 per year. However, the base salary offered is based on local job market factors and may vary further depending on factors specific to the selected job candidate, such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations. Subject to these considerations, the total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, such as an annual cash incentive in addition to a full range of medical, retirement, and/or other benefits.
