The new physician will provide family practice care to the community of Caledonia while working in collaboration with one physician and two nurse practitioners (1 full and 1 half time). In addition, weekly lab services, bi-weekly mental health and addictions service, diabetes education, weekly opiate-use disorder clinic and monthly clinical nutrition are available. The North Queen’s Community Health Centre is run by a community board, which is pivotal in the community providing fantastic community support for providers and the Health Centre. Job Description Responsibilities Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Examine patients and take their histories, order diagnostic tests and laboratory procedures; Advise patients on health care, health promotion, and disease prevention Consultation and referral to other medical practitioners Act as a patient’s advocate Prescribe and administer medications and treatments, inoculations and vaccinations Report births, deaths, contagious and other diseases as per Nova Scotia Public Health requirements Physicians in Nova Scotia provide fulfilling patient care which embraces family life, professional development and community involvement.
