The Waterloo Catholic District School Board with a total student population of 38,000, provides services to students in 50 schools (Kindergarten to Grade 12) across the Waterloo Region.

Applications for the position of SSC Culinary Teacher and Occasional Teacher accepted by the Culinary Program for St. Louis Adult Learning and Continuing Education Centres.

General Description of Program:

All culinary credit courses, follow Ministry of Education guidelines and are accepted as credits towards an Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD).

The Culinary Teacher(s) will report to the Principal of St. Louis Adult Learning and Continuing Education Centres to teach any of the culinary courses and certificate program at St. Louis.

Course Codes may include: TFJ3C, TFJ4C, TFC 3C, TFC 4C, TFB3E, TFB4E, TFN3C, TFN4C, TFE3E, TFE4E, TFR3C, TFR4C.

General Description of Duties:

Develop and deliver the secondary school credit Hospitality & Tourism curriculum in a classroom and kitchen setting

Work as part of a team to guide and further develop the Culinary Program

Develop course materials and curriculum content and ensure proper planning and follow up for the academic progress of all students

Identify students’ individual learning needs and use a variety of instructional strategies

Assess and evaluate the progress of students and discuss results with students to build next steps for improvement

Liaise with Administration

Assist in the delivery of the co-operative education component of the culinary program to prepare students for placements in the community

Minimum Requirements:

A current Ontario College of Teachers Certificate of Qualification (If no candidates with an OCT apply, other candidates will be considered)

Desirable Assets:

Senior teaching qualifications in the subject area (Technological studies- Hospitality Services)

Previous Experience in the food industry

Have previous teaching experience

A Red Seal Certificate or equivalent is an asset

Location: St. Louis Adult Learning & Education Centres

Main Campus - 80 Young Street, Kitchener

Program Hours: Monday - Friday 8:45 - 11:45 am & 12:30 - 3:30pm

Occasional Teachers as needed

Rate of Pay: Certified $47.27 per hour + Stat & Vacation

Uncertified $40.84 per hour + Stat & Vacation
