The ROLE The Cloud Operations team provides 24x7x365 support for all Syniti SaaS and Hosting customers globally. This business unit is responsible for the day-to-day management and support of the cloud operations environment, including uptime, performance, and high availability of all customer-supporting systems within the SaaS and hosted environments. The ecosystem consists of multi-tiered applications, microservice architectures, containers, virtual servers, and large, complex multi-terabyte SQL database systems. The Principal Cloud Operations Information Security Engineer is responsible for architecting, implementing, and managing information security systems and solutions that enable Syniti to maintain compliance with its security governance program, contractual requirements, and industry best practices. This role ensures compliance with security programs encompassing customer contract obligations, relevant regulatory requirements, and best practice standards. The Principal Cloud Operations Information Security Engineer will also participate in creating, evaluating, and refining existing cloud operations information security policies and processes in alignment with corporate IT security practices and other regulatory and customer commitments. WHAT YOU WILL DO Ensure compliance with a security governance program that aligns with Syniti’s business requirements and industry best practices. Develop processes supporting the cloud operations security governance program. Implement and maintain technical solutions to fulfill security governance requirements across private and public cloud environments, including AWS. Handle escalations from Syniti’s SOC for cloud operations in alignment with defined security incident handling practices. Operationalize new infosec technologies and processes across the cloud operations environment by collaborating with service delivery teams and providing necessary training and documentation. WHAT IT TAKES Excellent communication skills and experience driving cross-department initiatives to comply with security governance programs. Strong understanding of all facets of information security systems, including firewalls, VPNs, PAM, IAM, DLP, EDR, SIEMs, AV, IPS/IDS, and system hardening (STIGs/CIS). Strong knowledge of AWS security technologies (AWS Inspector, GuardDuty, Security Hub, WAF, etc.). Strong knowledge of AWS networking technologies (Transit Gateway, VPC Peering, Security Groups, NAT Gateways, Internet Gateways, CloudWAN). Strong understanding of vulnerability scanning, scoring, and remediation. Strong technical writing and presentation skills. Experience implementing infosec solutions and processes with a business-first mindset, ensuring customer experience is not materially hindered. Awareness of emerging infosec technologies. Self-motivated to learn and grow. Technical Skills & Experience 12+ years of experience in job-specific skills. 8+ years working in information security. 5+ years of experience in AWS network and security technologies. 5+ years as an IT and infosec practitioner with broad experience across infosec systems and solutions (firewalls, VPNs, PAM, IAM, DLP, EDR, SIEMs, AV, IPS/IDS, system hardening). 3+ years of experience in IT service delivery for cloud operations or managed services organizations.
