Base pay range CA$375.00/hr - CA$400.00/hr Type : Full-Time Contract (3 years) Shift: Flexible, depending on stream and clinical needs Duration: December 1, 2025 – November 30, 2028 Compensation : CAD $375–$400 per hour Overview We are seeking qualified psychiatrists to provide psychiatric services at a regional mental health facility. The successful candidate will contribute to clinical care, quality improvement initiatives, and on-call services for patients, helping support the mental health care needs of a diverse population. The psychiatrist will work closely with a multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality mental health care. Responsibilities Clinical Care Conduct psychiatric assessments, diagnoses, and treatment of patients. Develop, implement, and monitor treatment plans for individuals with mental health conditions. Coordinate with other healthcare professionals in managing psychiatric care. Perform evaluations for new admissions and ongoing assessments for current patients. Quality Improvement Participate in initiatives to improve the delivery of psychiatric care. Review and refine mental health care protocols and treatment methodologies in collaboration with the team. Ensure compliance with institutional policies and regulations. On-Call Services Provide on-call psychiatric services during weekends, holidays, and outside regular working hours. Respond to emergency mental health crises promptly and effectively. Documentation & Reporting Maintain accurate and comprehensive patient records, including assessments, treatment plans, progress notes, and follow-ups. Complete all documentation in accordance with healthcare regulations and institutional requirements. Work as part of a multidisciplinary team including psychologists, nurses, social workers, and support staff. Participate in team meetings, case reviews, and consultations to ensure comprehensive care. Requirements Medical degree (MD or equivalent) with specialization in psychiatry. Certification from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada or equivalent. Bilingual in French and English required – must be able to communicate fluently and effectively in both languages with patients, colleagues, and staff. Minimum 2–3 years of clinical experience in psychiatry, preferably in a correctional or institutional setting. Experience providing psychiatric assessments, diagnoses, and treatment for patients with complex mental health conditions. Familiarity with secure or institutional care is an asset. Skills Strong diagnostic skills and ability to implement effective treatment plans. Ability to work under pressure in fast-paced, challenging environments. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR) and mental health documentation systems. #J-18808-Ljbffr
