Data Architect

Job Title: Digital Architect – Data Location: Remote Pay Rate: CAD$90-CAD$100/Hr Overview This role supports digital transformation initiatives by providing architectural leadership for modern, user-centric digital services. The Digital Architect works within cross-functional teams to review current systems, identify future-state opportunities, and guide the iterative delivery of data-driven digital solutions. Key Responsibilities Lead solution architecture for digital services, including architectural planning, system analysis, and iterative solution design. Provide technical direction using agile and human-centered design practices. Guide teams on integrations, system boundaries, common components, and implementation approaches. Review and contribute to code, prototypes, and technical discovery activities. Mentor development teams and support product owners in balancing technical and functional priorities. Contribute to architectural standards, principles, and reusable components for broader digital service platforms. Communicate architecture concepts clearly through documents, diagrams, and presentations. Participate in continuous improvement of architectural practices. Work Conditions Primarily remote work within Canada; occasional in-person sessions may be required. Standard business hours apply. Must-Have Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field (or equivalent). 5+ years leading cross-functional agile teams and providing architectural guidance. 8+ years as a data architect, software architect, or senior data engineer. 5+ years leading solution architecture for large enterprise projects with integrations. 4+ years in domain modelling and database schema design. Strong communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences. Nice-to-Have Skills Experience aligning data architecture with organizational data strategies. Knowledge of data governance, secure development, access control, and Zero Trust principles. Experience with modernizing legacy systems and implementing interoperability standards. Exposure to containerization, orchestration, and infrastructure-as-code. Experience working with large complex organizations. Skilled with relational & non-relational databases and performance optimization. Experience using analytics tools and methodologies for data insights.
