Position Overview As the Privacy and Data Protection Program Manager you will support 1Password’s global privacy and data protection programs. This role ensures compliance with international, federal and local regulations, including the GDPR, PIPEDA, CCPA and other relevant laws. You’ll work closely with IT, HR, Marketing, Operations and other teams to implement and maintain effective data‑protection practices. Responsibilities Support legal research on privacy‑related developments, regulatory changes and enforcement trends. Analyze the impact of privacy law changes on 1Password’s business operations. Collaborate with the commercial legal team to draft and review privacy‑related agreements, including DPAs and vendor contracts. Monitor updates in data privacy laws and share insights with internal teams. Assist in developing and implementing internal privacy policies and procedures aligned with legal requirements and industry standards. Maintain records of incidents and support compliance with the incident response plan. Help prepare data‑breach notifications for regulatory authorities and impacted individuals. Review and assess third‑party privacy practices to ensure alignment with internal standards. Advise on due diligence for onboarding new vendors, partners or customers. Support the management and organization of vendor data‑processing agreements and related documents. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Business, Legal Studies or related field; JD preferred. Experience with GDPR, PIPEDA, CCPA/CPRA and other regional/privacy laws. 2–5 years in a legal, compliance or privacy role, preferably in a global customer environment. Experience conducting privacy impact assessments, audits or compliance monitoring. Strong attention to detail and discretion with confidential information. Excellent written and verbal communication; ability to explain complex concepts to non‑legal stakeholders. Problem‑solving mindset; independent and collaborative in cross‑functional teams. Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast‑paced environment. Proficiency in legal research and privacy management tools. Understanding of data protection technologies and information security principles (e.g., encryption, pseudonymization, access controls). Familiarity with IT systems, databases and data‑flow mapping. Bonus Points Experience working with international teams and cross‑border data transfer rules. Previous privacy, data protection or compliance role in a technology company. Privacy certification (e.g., CIPP/C, CIPP/US, CIPP/EU). Salary USA‑based roles: $113,000–$153,000 USD (base) plus benefits, paid time off, equity and incentive programs.Canada‑based roles: $96,000–$130,000 CAD (base) plus benefits, paid time off, equity and incentive programs.
