The Disability Medical Consultant actively manages disability claims by working closely with the claimant's attending physician to facilitate functional improvement and promote a timely return to employability. This role involves verifying the accuracy of diagnoses, clarifying their functional impact, and coordinating diagnostic tests and specialist consultations as needed. The consultant also researches and secures external treatment providers, all with the objective of enhancing functionality and supporting the claimant's return to work.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Evaluate how medical coordination can influence the duration of disability claims.
  • Identify diagnostic and treatment needs, creating strategic plans through file reviews and phone interviews with claimants and healthcare providers.
  • Develop and negotiate cost-effective, proactive plans aimed at facilitating a return to employability.
  • Maintain regular communication with claimants, addressing barriers and promoting functional improvements.
  • Offer ongoing support and consultation to Case Managers and Rehabilitation Consultants throughout the claim management process.
  • Prepare detailed written reports outlining findings and recommendations.
  • Ensure accurate and up-to-date electronic file documentation and internal record-keeping.
  • Other duties as required.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Fully Bilingual in English and French
  • 5 years of clinical experience
  • Regulated healthcare professional with current registration in good standing with a respective governing body (RN, OT, PT)
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written
  • Capable of working independently while actively contributing to team objectives
  • Excellent problem solving and decision making skills

Le Consultant Médical en Invalidité gère activement les demandes d'invalidité en collaborant étroitement avec le médecin traitant du demandeur pour favoriser l'amélioration fonctionnelle et promouvoir un retour rapide à l'employabilité. Ce rôle implique de vérifier l'exactitude des diagnostics, de clarifier leur impact fonctionnel et de coordonner les tests diagnostiques et les consultations spécialisées si nécessaire. Le consultant recherche également et sécurise des prestataires de traitement externes, dans le but d'améliorer la fonctionnalité et de soutenir le retour au travail du demandeur.


Rôles et responsabilités

  • Évaluer comment la coordination médicale peut influencer la durée des demandes d'invalidité.
  • Identifier les besoins diagnostiques et de traitement, en élaborant des plans stratégiques via des examens de dossiers et des entretiens téléphoniques avec les demandeurs et les fournisseurs de soins de santé.
  • Développer et négocier des plans proactifs et rentables visant à faciliter un retour à l'employabilité.
  • Maintenir une communication régulière avec les demandeurs, en abordant les obstacles et en promouvant des améliorations fonctionnelles.
  • Offrir un soutien et une consultation continus aux Gestionnaires de Cas et aux Consultants en Réhabilitation tout au long du processus de gestion des demandes.
  • Préparer des rapports écrits détaillés exposant les constatations et recommandations.
  • Assurer la documentation électronique précise et à jour et le suivi des dossiers internes.
  • Autres tâches au besoin.


Qualifications et compétences

  • Bilingue en anglais et en français.
  • 5 années d'expérience clinique.
  • Professionnel de la santé réglementé avec une inscription actuelle en règle auprès d'un organisme de réglementation respectif (Infirmier, Ergothérapeute, Physiothérapeute).
  • Excellentes compétences en communication, tant à l'oral qu'à l'écrit.
  • Capable de travailler de manière autonome tout en contribuant activement aux objectifs de l'équipe.
  • Excellentes compétences en résolution de problèmes et en prise de décision
