Wood is recruiting a Senior Mechanical Engineer for our Oil, Gas and New Energies business, focusing on delivering complex projects in the Canadian oilsands. This hybrid role is based in Sarnia, Ontario. The Role Reporting to the Manager of the Mechanical Department, you will develop and update mechanical specifications, technical documentation, and equipment data sheets; manage RFQs and evaluate supplier bids; and provide technical assessments throughout the mechanical engineering process. Expected Must be registered as a Professional Engineer ( in PEO 10 to 15 years of relevant EPC experience working on Oil and Gas projects. Undergraduate degree in Mechanical Engineering Canadian experience in conceptual, front‑end, and detailed engineering on various mid to large capital projects in oil & gas, Oilsands including Refinery, Upgrader, SAGD, and Petro‑Chemicals. In‑depth knowledge of industry codes: ASME, API and Canadian Codes. Knowledge and proven application in all aspects of Materials, Welding and NDE will be considered an asset. Ability to work efficiently and effectively when managing multiple tasks. Strong technical writing skills; experienced in preparing correspondence and technical reports. Effective verbal communicator, including presentation, facilitation and listening skills. Ability to work both independently and in a multi‑disciplinary team environment. Willing to travel and accept field assignments. Motivated by working with people, through internal collaboration or with external clients. Proficiency in MS Office Applications (Word, Excel) Must be legally able to work in Canada at the time of application. Desirable Hands‑on field/site experience in operations, mechanical equipment maintenance, inspections and workshop repairs and turnarounds will be considered an asset.
