Manager, Cloud and DevOps Engineering Advantage Group International is seeking a Manager, Cloud and DevOps Engineering with deep expertise in Google Cloud Platform (GCP) to lead our cloud optimization and DevOps strategy. This is a unique opportunity to build and shape our DevOps culture from the ground up. The successful candidate will be a hands‑on leader who can design, implement, and manage a scalable, secure, and highly available cloud environment, enabling our development teams to deliver value faster and more reliably. This role combines technical leadership with strategic oversight, ensuring our GCP‑based platforms are optimized for continuous delivery. You will champion best practices, mentor engineers/ DevOps specialists, and drive innovation across our hybrid environment and automation initiatives. About the Role This is a greenfield opportunity for a true builder who is passionate about automation, Infrastructure as Code, and creating robust CI/CD pipelines. The ideal candidate will be a strategic thinker who can select the right tools for the job and a hands‑on practitioner who can implement them effectively. You will be responsible for the entire DevOps lifecycle and will work closely with our developers to foster a culture of collaboration, ownership, and continuous improvement. In other words, we need someone who: Is an evangelist for DevOps principles and has experience embedding this culture. Thrives on the challenge of automating everything from infrastructure provisioning to application deployment and monitoring. Possesses deep technical skills across CI/CD, containerization, infrastructure as code, and cloud security. Can work autonomously to define a roadmap for our developments and infrastructure while collaborating closely with a multi‑disciplinary team. Can mentor developers in DevOps best practices, champion new technologies, and clearly articulate technical vision and decisions. Has a proven track record of designing, building, and managing modern cloud infrastructure on GCP. Understands cost optimization in cloud environments. Your Day-to-Day Your role will be to establish the foundations of our DevOps practice. Your responsibilities will involve: Leadership & Strategy Define and execute the GCP and DevOps roadmap aligned with business objectives. Lead junior DevOps specialists, fostering a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement. GCP Architecture & Operations Design and manage GCP environments, including Compute Engine, Kubernetes Engine (GKE), Cloud Storage, and networking. Ensure high availability, security, and cost optimization of GCP resources. DevOps Practices Build and maintain robust CI/CD pipelines using tools like Cloud Build, Artifact Registry, and Terraform. Champion Infrastructure as Code (IaC) for reproducible and auditable environments. Drive automation across infrastructure and application delivery. Governance & Compliance Integrating and managing a comprehensive monitoring, logging, and alerting solution to ensure system health and performance. Defining and enforcing security best practices across the development lifecycle. Qualifications Technical Skill Set Cloud Platforms: Extensive experience with GCP. Infrastructure as Code: Proficiency with tools like Terraform or CloudFormation. Configuration Management: Proficiency with tools like Ansible, Chef, Puppet or similar tools. CI/CD Tools: Expertise in building pipelines with tools such as Jenkins, GitLab CI, or GitHub Actions. Containerization: Strong knowledge of Docker and container orchestration with Kubernetes (K8s) or similar services (e.g., ECS, GKE). Scripting & Automation: Strong scripting skills in languages like Python or Bash. Monitoring & Logging: Experience setting up and using tools like Prometheus, Grafana, or the ELK Stack. Networking & Security: Solid understanding of cloud networking concepts and security best practices. Databases: Experience managing and operating relational and/or NoSQL databases in a cloud environment. Leadership and Business Skill Set Proven experience in DevOps leadership roles. Excellent communication skills to explain complex technical concepts. Ownership‑driven mindset with a passion for optimization and innovation. A strong willingness to learn and adapt, staying current with the rapidly evolving cloud technology landscape. Detail‑oriented, understanding that small details are critical for stable and secure systems. A collaborative partner to the development team, not just a service provider. Passionate about building efficient, reliable systems. Work Arrangement Remote‑first with flexibility. If located in the Greater Toronto Area, one day per week in‑office for collaboration. Able to be flexible with work hours, some evenings in EST hours per week given time zone engagement requirements. Why Should You Work with Us?
