Job Description Project Manager - Mining/Remediation/Construction Parsons is the Construction Manager for the Giant Mine Remediation Project. This is a world‑class remediation project using innovative methods to deliver a safe environment. The project is expected to last over 10 years and is located just outside the City of Yellowknife, NWT. We are looking for highly motivated and qualified project managers who have experience managing civil construction projects. The successful candidates will be responsible for project and construction management to deliver work packages from the design phase through to project closeout and hand over. This role is for both current and ongoing needs so responses may be delayed as roles become available. Local candidates and candidates willing to relocate to Yellowknife are preferred but open to considering candidates who can travel to the Yellowknife area for the project on a case‑by‑case basis. Travel will vary depending on season and projects but generally will be more in the summer and less at other times. Responsibilities Participate in design reviews and provide constructability inputs. Plan, manage, and progress the work package from completion of design phase through to close‑out and hand‑over. Develop internal budgetary estimates and schedule. Create scopes of work and tender packages. Conduct pre‑bid meetings, pre‑bid tours, and related communication requirements. Participate in bid evaluations and contract awarding. Onboard contractors, manage document submittals and approvals to facilitate mobilization and construction execution. Execute construction activities and manage contractor performance, ensuring compliance with scope, schedule, budget, plan, quality, safety, and environment. Resolve issues and risks. Manage requests for information processes and flow. Ensure compliance with the change order process and procedures, maintaining thorough understanding of scope, specification, contract, and field activities. Track and report on project deliverables including schedule, cost, quality, safety, environmental compliance, and issue resolution. Communicate, lead, and align with construction superintendents, inspectors, QA/QC coordinator, finance, procurement, document control, planning, scheduling, estimator, and contractors. Assist the Construction Manager with resolving cost, schedule, or quality variances by working with subcontractors to develop corrective actions. Assist the Mine Manager, H&S Manager, and Environmental Manager in ensuring HS&E awareness and compliance by all subcontractors. Prepare monthly reports on work package progress with schedule and budget compliance assessment for delivery to the Construction Manager and Senior Project Manager. May participate in status briefings with the client. Required Skills Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Geology, or a directly related technical field. 12+ years of experience in project management, construction management, specifically in developing project requirements and plans; preparing cost estimates; participating in contract bidding and award processes; managing projects in execution phase and managing project closeout. 5+ years of work experience in heavy civil, northern mining or remediation projects. 5+ years of experience working in Northern Canada is an asset. Knowledgeable of industry practices and regulations. Knowledgeable of current technologies and how they can be effectively utilized on projects. Professional designation (or the ability to obtain one) as a professional geologist, engineer, CET, and PMP designation is preferable. Experience managing on‑site activities of multiple subcontractors. Experience addressing and resolving issues such as poor performance by subcontractors. Ability to work independently and coordinate members of a team.
