Payroll Specialist

Position Summary Responsibilities
• Process full-cycle bi-weekly payroll (for salaried and hourly employees) across Canada and US Entities • Review payroll transactions entered into the system including new hires, terminations, and preparation of ROEs
• Calculate termination payments and manual payroll adjustments, as well as support in remittances for source deductions, garnishees, WSIB, EHT etc.
• Generate records of employment for terminating employees • Prepare, reconcile monthly/quarterly workers compensation reports;
• Communicate with the HR department and other internal stakeholders to ensure pay and employee records are accurate and up-to-date
• Review the payroll register, reconcile payroll accounts and prepare payroll accounting journal entries • Participate in the fiscal year-end process (process T4/R1’s, assist in reporting for auditors, etc.)
• Participate in other special projects as needed Qualifications
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in payroll
• General knowledge of Canadian and US employment law, payroll legislation and accounting principles
• ADP Workforce Now experience is an asset • Relevant payroll certification, an asset
• Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously
• High degree of ownership, independence, and decision-making
• Experience working in a multi-site environment and international operations
• Solid communication skills and ability to work with internal and external partners
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and extreme discretion

• Traiter le cycle complet de la paie toutes les deux semaines (pour les salariés et les employés horaires) au Canada et au États-Unis;
• Réviser les nouvelles demandes saisies dans le système, y compris les nouvelles embauches, les cessations d'emploi et la préparation des relevés d'emploi;
• Calculer les indemnités de licenciement et les ajustements manuels de la paie, ainsi que soutenir les versements pour les retenues à la source, les saisies-arrêts, la WSIB, l'EHT, etc.
• Générer des relevés d'emploi pour les employés qui quittent l'entreprise; • Préparer et rapprocher les rapports mensuels/trimestriels requis des divers gouvernements;
• Communiquer avec le service des ressources humaines et d'autres départements internes pour s'assurer que les dossiers de paie et d'employés sont exacts et à jour;
• Réviser le registre de paie, réconcilier les comptes salariaux et préparer les écritures comptables des salaires, si requis;
• Participer au processus de fin d'année fiscale (traitement des T4/R1, aide à la rédaction des rapports pour les auditeurs, etc.);
• participer à d'autres projets spéciaux, le cas échéant. Qualifications • Un minimum de 5 années d'expérience dans le domaine de la paie;
• Connaissance générale du droit du travail canadien et américain, de la législation reliée à la paie et des principes comptables;
• Expérience d'ADP Workforce Now, un atout; • Certification pertinente en matière de paie, un atout;
• Capacité à gérer simultanément plusieurs projets et priorités; • Haut degré d'appropriation, d'indépendance et de prise de décision
; • Expérience de travail dans un environnement multi-sites et des opérations internationales; • Excellent communicateur et capacité à travailler avec des partenaires internes et externes;
• Capacité à préserver la confidentialité et à faire preuve d'une extrême discrétion.
