Accounting Specialist

At Adventure Canada, our people are our greatest asset, and we are looking for an Accounting Specialist to support our growing finance function.Reporting to the Finance Manager, this role is responsible for ensuring the accuracy, timeliness, and integrity of key financial processes, including accounts payable, credit card administration, reconciliations, and foreign currency transactions. The Accounting Specialist brings strong technical capability, attention to detail, and a proactive mindset to support both day-to-day operations and ongoing improvements within a fast-paced environment.This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled accounting professional who thrives on precision, collaboration, and continuous learning.What You’ll Do* Manage Accounts Payable email, stamp and code invoices and prepare weekly AP sub-ledgers for approval. Reconcile accounts on a regular basis to ensure that all invoices have been processed correctly and that the company's records are accurate, including foreign currencies.* Process payments to vendors in a timely and accurate manner through various payment methods including Plooto.* Ensure all Amex/Visa credit card transactions are processed timely via Dext and accurately coded to the correct ledger account.* Work with all departments to ensure timely supplier payments* Keep Trip Costing Tool up to date* Maintain relationships with vendors and suppliers, including responding to inquiries and resolving any issues related to payments or invoices.* Maintain accurate records of all payments made to vendors and suppliers.* Maintain financial security by adhering to internal controls and signing authorities in online banking, Plooto, cheques and wires.What You Bring* 3+ years of progressive accounting experience.* Intermediate experience with QuickBooks Online and related applications such as Plooto and Dext.* Strong understanding of double-entry accounting, GL structures, and balance sheet reconciliation.* Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and working knowledge of Adobe.* Ability to work effectively with multiple departments and manage competing priorities.* Exceptional attention to detail, accuracy, and organizational skills.* Strong written communication abilities.* Experience working with foreign currency transactions; travel industry experience is an asset.* A commitment to continuous learning and alignment with the Truth and Reconciliation Commission’s Calls to Action.Location & Work Model* Based at our Mississauga, Ontario office (hybrid model with flexibility).Why Adventure Canada?* Join a mission-driven organization rooted in culture, community, and conservation.* Be part of a small but mighty team where your work makes a direct impact.* Contribute to a company that values culture, community, and conservation.Adventure Canada is an equal opportunity employer.
