Job Purpose The Structures Engineer operates as a subject matter expert (SME) for the CRN Structures team, supporting maintenance activities and project delivery for all UGLRL managed structures on the CRN and ARTC networks. The Structures Engineer oversees the technical and engineering aspects of the delivery of the technical maintenance plan as it applies to CRN managed structures, and provides support to the maintenance team in meeting quality, safety, budget and performance targets. The position provides effective leadership and sustainable working relationships with all internal and external stakeholders to ensure site safety, quality and environment controls and risk management. Key Responsibilities Support and monitor the execution of the Technical Maintenance Plan as it relates to UGLRL managed Structures on the CRN and ARTC networks. Monitor and assess the defect management conducted by the Structures maintenance teams to ensure that local practices and methods meet contractual and UGLRL requirements and provide suitable assurance of track safety and integrity. Support the process of project identification, prioritisation, and scoping of major and minor projects. Contribute to the development of work methods, and administer overall job planning and programming including short range and intermediate activities, for approval by the Superintendent. Assign works and resources to deliver Preventative and Corrective Structures maintenance within budget, time, quality, and regulatory standards, monitor and guide workflow, setting daily, weekly, and long-term project goals. Manage the overall delivery of assigned projects, on or ahead of time with all client expectations met. Manage the execution of engineering, procurement and construction activities and adopt appropriate construction methods. Utilise project planning skills to plan work, monitor implementation and effectiveness to achieve outcomes. Monitor construction progress for adherence to programme, contractual arrangements, and delivery milestones to ensure they are on schedule and within quality and cost estimates and take remedial action as required. Analyse and use document and record management, progress and project performance reporting, and compliance reporting. Read and understand plans, review design documentation, read drawings, and provide constructive review and implementing of final designs. Coordinate and administer construction engineering activities to ensure that projects are implemented in accordance with plans, designs, and specifications.
