This position open to Occasional Teachers currently employed by Algonquin Lakeshore Catholic District School Board who have completed a minimum of one (1) LTO assignment that was a minimum of four (4) months in duration, and, whose last evaluation resulted in a satisfactory rating. In addition to the applicants from the school board’s occasional teacher roster, a school board may choose, as one of the applicants to be interviewed, a teacher employed as a permanent teacher elsewhere in the province who has applied to the posting.

Special Education Part 1
Acadience Training
Experience in K-2 or SERT
Specialized expertise in scientific, evidence-based literacy instruction that emphasizes foundational knowledge and skills, as well as training in providing direct Tier 2 and Tier 3 reading interventions.
An awareness and experience with assessments, including trained on the use of the Acadience screener that inform instruction based on intensity, duration and frequence of skill required.
Expertise in a comprehensive approach to literacy instruction.
Reading Specialist Teachers will work one-on-one or in small groups with students in Kindergarten to Grade 3 who would benefit from more support in reading. These supports may including providing direct Tier 2 and Tier 3 reading interventions and other supports required by the Board on reading and literacy related initiatives. Reading Specialist Teachers will also provide literacy and language curriculum instruction to students in Grade 1, Grade 2 and eligible Kindergarten classrooms while the classroom teacher administers early reading screening to individual teachers in the early part of the school year.
