VIA Rail Canada Inc., Canada's national passenger rail service, is currently seeking candidates to fill Heavy Duty Mechanic position, to work at its Toronto Maintenance Center in Etobicoke. Tasks Carry out inspection, preventive maintenance and running repairs on locomotives to VIA Rail Standards utilizing maintenance procedures, manuals and tools. Troubleshoot the causes of mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic defects on the locomotives and perform the repair. All inspections and maintenance should be in compliance with VIA’s maintenance program in order to continually surpass Transport Canada standards. Schedule Permanent position; 40 hours per week guaranteed; 5x8h per week or 4x10h per week 10 H shifts/4 days; may change depending on workload; The work schedule may vary: day, night, week-end and holidays; Over-time is available.
