NexGold has an exciting opportunity for one (1) full-time permanent Area Manager, Non-Processing Infrastructure (NPI), Tailings Management Facility (TMF), and Mining. Initially, this role will be based from our Corporate Office with regular trips to project sites. This role will transition to an on-site rotational work schedule during project construction phase. This role is considered the project manager for the assigned project’s non-process area under the leadership of the Project Director and is accountable for the successful delivery of the engineering and construction for that area. Initially, this role will be assigned to the Goldboro Gold Project in Goldboro, Nova Scotia, however this role may be assigned to the Goliath Gold Complex near Dryden, Ontario, or other project sites in the future. The Area Manager provides project leadership, expertise and execution direction to integrate the project team into a cohesive organization to execute the scope of their area all while delivering the project to plan – safely, enhancing statutory and social license to operate, to the required quality, within budget and on time. Key Responsibilities Project Management Delivery of all project objectives for their defined area, including scope definition, schedule and cost. Ensures that these objectives are clearly defined and communicated to the project team; Actively participates in planning, monitoring, coordinating, integrating and directing the work in their corresponding area including engineering, procurement, construction, project controls, commissioning and handover to operations; Interacts with all team members as required to ensure planned activities are advancing as per the project requirements, and in consultation with functional leads and as issues arise, recommends alternate plans to maintain the project objectives; Responsible for overseeing the development of budgets, schedules and reports for their area; Identifies project risks, along with corresponding mitigation plans; Prepares project for operations ramp-up to plan by supporting all operational readiness activities; Deploys a continuous improvement program to generate ideas and to implement improvement projects that reduce project cost, increase operational cash flow, improve schedule predictability and improve safety, environmental compliance and quality. Department Leadership and Stakeholder Relationships Responsible for effective management of change for their respective area; Manages and coordinates project staff and contractors to ensure safe, environmentally responsible, cost effective, efficient and timely completion of the project; Provides health, safety and environmental (HSE) leadership throughout all project activities; Develops and maintains communication channels and strong relationships with rights holders, stakeholders, contractors and internal personnel to ensure that project objectives are met; Mentors, coaches and trains junior internal personnel as well as complete project teams to become more prepared to take on added roles and responsibilities; Fosters a spirit of enthusiasm, health & safety focus, teambuilding and continual improvement within the project team; Other Has a strong presence and visibility as a senior leader who embodies the culture of NexGold and exhibits the highest standards of ethical behaviour Demonstrate a personal commitment to Safety, Health and Environmental responsibilities; Occasional regional travel (e.g., day trips to communities surrounding the project sites) during the engineering phase of the project; Regular turn arounds at site during the execution phase of the project (site schedule still to be determined); Additional responsibilities or tasks as reasonably assigned. What You Bring Must Haves Undergraduate or Graduate Degree in Engineering, Project Management or Construction Management from a recognized university; Minimum 15 years’ experience in an engineering & construction and/or Owner’s project team environment supporting mining projects, including at least five years of increasing responsibility as a project manager; Experience managing large greenfield or brownfield projects ($100 million to $1 billion); Strong contract management skills; Working knowledge of construction methods, building systems and terminology; Experience working with multiple stakeholders; Strong leadership skills including the ability to motivate and engage a team; Superior interpersonal and relationship management skills; A willingness to travel extensively and for varying durations; Valid driver's license; Excellent oral and written communication skills; Proficiency in Microsoft Office; and Ability to work with minimal supervision. Preferred Qualifications Certification as a Project Management Professional (PMP) or a Certified Construction Manager (CCM) is considered an asset; Professional Engineer registration (P.Eng.) credential is preferred, but not mandatory. Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8:00am – 5:00pm. During construction phase, schedule will change to a rotational schedule working on-site at the project (schedule TBD). Work Arrangements: Hybrid with three (3) days per week in office and two (2) days per week from home with regular travel to the project site required.
