DigitalX, our new information technology function, is spearheading this value‑driven transformation across Astellas. We are seeking a skilled Data Analyst to join our team as an internal consultant to all parts of the business. In this role, you will collaborate with various corporate functions, including finance, commercial, and operations, to provide data‑driven insights and recommendations. The ideal candidate will possess a strong consulting background, data science skills, and proficiency in business intelligence tools. Purpose And Scope The data analysis team serves as a bridge between business and technology by reporting and monitoring data, operationalizing data science and machine learning products, and identifying opportunities for continuous improvement to enhance decision‑making. As a data scientist, you will be responsible for partnering with corporate functions to understand their business problem, and design, implement, and maintain digital solutions using analytical, data science, and AI/ML techniques. Mostly importantly, an innovative and collaborative mindset is needed to increase the value to patients. Essential Job Responsibilities Bridge between business and technology for decision making: Data storytelling. Uncovering patterns in data. Providing unbiased and data‑driven insights for decision making. Building out analytical processes and translating results into actions for the business. Operationalizing data science and ML products: Building out automated processes based on data science and ML products and incorporating them into BAU processes. Collecting business stakeholder input and buy‑in to increase use of analytical products for increased efficiency and decreased costs. Utilize programming languages such as Python and R to perform data analysis and modeling. Identification of continuous improvement: Identification of opportunities for improvement across business pipelines. Coordination across multiple teams and stakeholders to act. Stay updated on industry trends and best practices in data analysis, data science, AI, and business intelligence. Reporting and monitoring: Dashboard creation for reporting and monitoring: develop and maintain dashboards and reports using BI tools such as QlikSense and Tableau to visualize data and support decision‑making. Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to define key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics for tracking business performance. Present findings and recommendations to stakeholders in a clear and concise manner. Data visualization. Database querying using SQL. Basic statistical analysis: analyze complex datasets to identify trends, patterns, and opportunities for improvement. Qualifications Required 3-5 years of experience in data analysis or data science role. Bachelor’s degree in mathematics, data science, statistics, or a related field. 3-5 years of experience using Python and R. 3-5 years of experience using statistical and AI/ML concepts. Demonstrates strong innovative mindset to increase value to patients. 3+ years of experience using business intelligence tools including Qliksense, Tableau, and/or PowerBI. Proficiency in database querying languages such as SQL and knowledge of database management systems. Knowledge of or experience using Generative AI. Experience ensuring data quality, consistency, and accuracy. Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data sets. Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey technical information to non‑technical stakeholders. Ability to communicate and work effectively with other technical team members to agree on a best solution. A self‑starter able to work on own but know when to collaborate with wider team to ensure best overall solution. Experience working with data warehousing and data modelling. Ability to design and implement logical and physical data models. Familiarity with data warehousing concepts, including star schema, snowflake schema, and data marts. Understanding of ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes and data integration techniques. Ability to work collaboratively in a fast‑paced, team‑oriented environment. Ability to adhere to agile principles and to act as an agile champion. Preferred Master’s or PhD in mathematics, data science, statistics, or a related field. Experience using PySpark. Experience in a consulting role. Experience in the pharmaceutical or healthcare industry. Proficiency with Databricks. Experience with Cloud environments, DevOps, infrastructure, and deployment.
