Our client, a single asset gold mining company based in Vancouver, operates a gold mine in Ghana. We are seeking a talented Geotechnical/Mining Engineer to join our client's team in Vancouver, BC. This role is pivotal in supporting their operations both locally and internationally, ensuring the continued success and safety of their projects.

Department: Engineering

Reports To: Senior Mining Manager


Job Summary:

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in the mining sector, particularly in using scheduling software and working with consultants. This role requires a deep understanding of geotechnical engineering principles and the ability to apply them to ensure the stability and efficiency of mining operations.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Geotechnical Analysis: Conduct detailed geotechnical analyses and assessments to ensure the stability and safety of mining operations.
  • Mine Planning: Develop and implement mine plans and schedules, using advanced scheduling software to optimize production and safety.
  • Project Management: Manage geotechnical projects from inception through completion, including budgeting, scheduling, and coordination with other departments.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with consultants and internal teams to ensure seamless project execution and compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Reporting: Prepare technical reports and presentations for senior management, stakeholders, and regulatory bodies.
  • Sustainability: Contribute to the company’s sustainability initiatives, ensuring that all geotechnical activities are conducted in an environmentally responsible manner.
  • Field Work: Conduct site visits and inspections to gather data, assess conditions, and provide on-site geotechnical support.
  • Safety: Uphold and promote commitment to safety, ensuring all activities comply with health and safety regulations.


Qualifications:

Education:

Degree in Geotechnical Engineering, Mining Engineering, or a related field
