The Technical Specialist Advisory contributes to the overall success of the Security Platform Engineering (SPE) team in Canada and Globally, ensuring specific individual goals, plans, initiatives are executed / delivered in support of the team’s business strategies and objectives. Ensures all activities conducted are in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work within Scotiabank. In this role, you will: Collaborate with leading vendors and providers of security and cloud technologies. Contribute to the innovative and evolution of our products and services by leveraging the latest advancement in cloud technologies and best practices. Champion a culture of excellence and continuous improvement, where every team member is empowered to share ideas, collaborate effectively, and make difference. Responsible for the successful implementation and maintenance of complete technology solutions for projects supporting highly complex on‑premises and cloud‑based platforms and applications with complex network integration needs across multiple environments. Setting up, configuring, maintaining, and updating servers as per project requirements. This might involve creating Google Cloud VMs with Terraform, installing necessary software, applying security patches, and configuring network settings. Requires leadership skills, hands‑on technical expertise, individual contribution, and a focus on continuous improvement for solution efficiency and cost‑effectiveness. Collaborate closely with members of the cyber security engineering, red team, and development team to align content strategy with project goals and objectives. Participate in internal calls and meetings with vendors to discuss project progress, address technical challenges and align on next steps. Develop and maintain technical documentation, user’s guideline, configuration and troubleshooting documents, executive reports, and user‑friendly dashboards to support cybersecurity engineering projects. Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? We'd love to work with you if you have: 5 years of public cloud support experience, preferably in GCP and Azure 5 years of experience in automating deployment processes and working with CI/CD tools (Terraform, Google Cloud Deployment, etc.) 10 years of experience working with Linux, Shell, Python, SQL, Ansible, etc. Knowledge of network security, architecture, and applications infrastructure Experience in Java. Experience in cyber security. Experience with breach and attack simulation platforms such as Mandiant, SafeBreach, Pentera. Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Should be a team player. GCP Professional Cloud Architect certification Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related discipline What's in it for you?
