Description

The Department of Medicine and the Division of Geriatric Medicine at the University of Ottawa and the Ottawa Hospital is looking for a Geriatrician or General Internist to fill a one-year Locum.

The Division of Geriatric Medicine is renowned for the delivery of outstanding care and recognized internationally for its programs, including creating the foundation for the development of the globally endorsed and communicated Geriatrics 5Ms: Mind, Mobility, Medications, Multi-complexity & Matters Most, as a way to explain what Geriatricians do. The Division consists of a dynamic group of 10 full-time academic Geriatricians within a progressive Department of Medicine. The Division is an integral partner of the Regional Geriatric Program of Eastern Ontario, which manages a wide spectrum of services for older people within the region.

The Ottawa Hospital is a 1150 bed tertiary-care hospital serving Eastern Ontario and Western Quebec at four inpatient sites (Civic, General, Heart Institute, and the Rehabilitation Centre) and one ambulatory centre (Riverside). There are approximately 50,000 inpatient admissions, 160,000 emergency visits, and over one million outpatient visits annually.

The University of Ottawa is the largest bilingual university in the world and the first and largest bilingual medical school in Canada. The Faculty of Medicine has a long history of conducting high-quality basic and clinical research in close partnership with affiliated hospitals and research institutes.
