Aircraft Maintenance Engineer

Job Summary The Aircraft Maintenance Engineer is responsible for maintaining, repairing, overhauling, and modifying mechanical, structural, or electrical parts of the aircraft, performing scheduled and unscheduled maintenance duties to carry out certification of the aircraft for flight. This position also provides direction and supervision to Apprentices, ensuring the team performs activities as planned in conjunction with the Production Manager and Crew Chief. Responsibilities Troubleshoot aircraft structural, mechanical, or instrumentational/avionic systems to identify problems and adjust and repair them according to specifications, manuals, and established procedures. Preform schedule and unscheduled maintenance and servicing work orders on assigned aircrafts and aircraft components as outlined by applicable worksheets, work orders, forms, bulletins, and Company Manuals, Policies, and Procedures, and regulatory bodies. Read and interpret maintenance manuals, service bulletins, and other specifications to determine the feasibility and method of repairing or replacing malfunctioning or damaged components. Perform critical and non-critical systems checks (i.e. oxygen, fuel, batteries) and inspections on aircrafts in accordance with service bulletins, airworthiness directives and aircraft manuals. Complete all required documentation and certification of journey log entries for the scheduled activities preformed. Source appropriate tooling, test equipment, or ground support equipment, and ensuring it's calibrated and in good working order before use. Supervising and mentoring the apprenticing staff. Tow, move, and relocated aircrafts as required. Maintain a clean work area and utilize proper tool control practices. Alert leadership of any safety concerns, taking immediate action to report any unsafe conditions. Participate in operational tests and run-ups of aircrafts. Actively engage in and contribute to the company's overall safety culture and compliance initiatives. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications, Education & Experience Experience with aircraft type, BE02, DHC6, PC06, C206, C207, and C208B is an asset. Completion of Transport Canada approved Technical Diploma/Program in Aircraft Maintenance. Must possess Transport Canada M1 Licence. Valid Canadian Driver's Licence. Utilize hand tools and power tools safely and efficiently. Proven safety record and excellent problem-solving skills. WHMIS 2015, Working at Heights, Fire Safety, Human Factors Certificate, Crew Resource Management. Legally entitled to work in Canada. Skills & Abilities Detail Orientation: Attention to the specifics and minutiae of tasks or projects. Manual Dexterity : Proficiency with hands in executing tasks. Mechanical Aptitude : Understanding of how mechanical systems work. Self-Management: Ability to manage oneself, including time and priorities. Teamwork: Ability to work well with others towards a common goal. Location: Norman Wells, NT Working Conditions Details Hours of Work: Full-Time: Sun-Wed, OR Wed-Sat, 10 hrs/day (40 hrs per week) Rotational: Variable Schedule, 10 hrs/day (60 hrs per week) Work Environment: Standing, kneeling, or crouching for long periods of time. Lifting, operating equipment, and other physical tasks. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds. Frequent exposure to elements like heat, cold, rain, and wind. Possible exposure to dangerous goods. Occasionally working at heights. May be assigned to travel to different bases or communities for periods at a time.
