The open‑pit gold and silver mine offers an excellent environment for outdoor activities such as hunting, fishing, winter sports and lake country recreation. Applicants who reside in Northwestern Ontario and have experience working in a cross‑cultural environment, coupled with knowledge of the unique challenges and opportunities presented to those living in the Northwest Ontario, are assets. Indigenous members must clearly identify their status. About The Role Schedule: 2 weeks on / 2 weeks off (FIFO) / Residential. Position reports to: OP Mine Manager. The Chief Mine Engineer oversees activities related to engineering functions and ensures service and operating guidelines are followed, providing input into the design and development of processes, procedures and practices. Recognize and celebrate success. Manage activities related to programs, systems and procedures in mine design Contribute to the development of policies and procedures in engineering. Oversee the production of drill pattern designs. Monitor pit phase designs and short‑term mine plans. Develop monthly and weekly plans by coordinating activities. Supervise production surveying. Ensure that pit designs are effectively implemented in the field. Contribute to the preparation of the annual budget and long‑term strategies. Confirm that planned production goals are realistic through equipment studies. Oversee survey and drilling/blasting activities to coordinate and prioritize planning goals. Merge short‑term plans into long‑term plans to avoid bottlenecks. Evaluate short‑term mine plans to ensure consistency with operational objectives. Monitor the work of mining activities by reviewing progress on compliance plans and specifications. Provide responses to internal and external queries. Act as 2IC for Senior Geologist when they are off site. Other duties as required. Analyze data and provide technical documentation to support decision making Provide communication materials, manuals and other written materials related to systems, programs or technical issues. Research data to support decision making and improve procedures, technologies, or methodologies. Keep current with trends related to mine design and integrate this information into assignments and methodology. Continually improve product or technical knowledge and skill set of self and team. Manage and lead the Mining Operation team Take a leading role in the employment and development of staff. Ensure ongoing effective management of staff by setting clear performance goals and providing feedback. Coach direct reports to achieve optimum efficiencies. Ensure necessary staffing and equipment are available to meet production targets within budget. Assist direct reports in reaching their full potential. Resolve any employee relations issues that may arise. Other related duties as required. Qualifications Degree in Mine Engineering. 8–10 years of mine operation/engineering experience. Attention to detail with excellent organizational skills. Ability to prioritize job duties effectively. Effective oral and written communication skills. Ability to work well in a team environment.
