StackTeck supplies a wide range of injection molds and IML automation used to produce plastic parts in applications such as caps, closures, medical, PET preforms, and thinwall packaging; as well as complete system integrations including IML. StackTeck recently invested in new capacity to facilitate customer projects for In Mold Labeling (IML) and other packaging applications. This new StackTeck facility is dedicated for automation, robotics engineering, assembly, test and injection molding systems integration. This 13,000 sq. ft. new facility is a 15 minute drive from the main StackTeck mold manufacturing facility near Toronto International Airport. SUMMARY: Working in a team of designers/engineers/service technicians, the Controls Specialist will play a critical role in the design and implementation of robotic automation systems in the injection molding industry. The right candidate will possess extensive knowledge and experience from drafting machine electrical schematics, sizing and setting up servo drive systems, programming PLCs, wiring, and troubleshooting. The Controls Specialist may have had past experiences working for other machine builders and systems integrators, notably in the plastics packaging industry. RESPONSIBILITES: Work closely with the Quoting/Mechanical Design/Procurement/Service teams to design and build electrical control systems for automation cells in the plastics injection molding industry Thoroughly understanding the Ontario Electrical Safety Code and Industrial Robot Safety requirements, design electrical and pneumatic schematics for control, power distribution, and I/O panels Program and develop PLC and HMI applications Provide mentorship to Junior Controls Engineers/Designers Some travel may be required The right candidate will have the opportunity to enter an accelerated training program with the expectation that the individual will possess the skills and expertise in the areas of motion control, PLC/HMI programming, and Industrial Robot Safety MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE Post-Secondary education Completion of College or University in Electrical Engineering/Design including Mechatronics, Industrial, and Electromechanical disciplines Minimum 5 years experience as a Controls Specialist Proven knowledge of industrial automation and control systems Previous experience with B&R controls platform is a asset Experience with STL based PLC programming is an asset In Mold Labelling knowledge is an asset Strong communication and computer skills Fluency in Spanish is an asset SolidWorks Electrical is an asset AutoCad 2D is an asset BEHAVIOURAL Decision Making: Utilizing an effective process to make decisions Teamwork: Working effectively with others Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem solving aptitude. Attention to detail Interpersonal Skills: Effectively communicating, building rapport and relating well to people.
