Lead and coordinate mine engineering deliverables for Cote Gold. Oversee mine planning, surveying, drill & blast, mine design, projects and forecasting. Report and communicate progress and participate in various mine projects and business improvement initiatives. Provide technical expertise, support, coaching and training to the mine engineers and technicians. Key Areas of Responsibility & Duties Area 1: Develop and provide leadership to the team. Lead by example. Actively engage in recruiting, and develop a diverse team of engineers and technicians in accordance with the organizational design strategy. Build and lead a dynamic team focused on planning, data analytics, effective communication and continuous improvement. Create space for your team to be effective in delivering results and foster an inclusive work environment. Ensure current and future training requirements are met, and develop clear progression paths for the team. Mentor and coach team members to impart best practices in all mine engineering activities. Promote a high‑performance culture by setting expectations, conducting performance reviews, and providing feedback and coaching. Area 2: Lead and oversee the technical production of designs, schedules, drawings and forecasts. Lead and coordinate mine engineering activities including planning, design, surveying and drill and blast. Coordinate inputs from Exploration, Geology, Mine Operations and Mill Operations to produce effective plans and designs. Analyze and interpret mine plan and mine design to ensure alignment with operational objectives. Oversee data and statistical inputs from survey results, recovery results, etc. to adjust plan accordingly. Control and monitor the work of mining activities by checking the state of progress on the field, compliance of the plans and specifications issued and analyzing the results of completed work. Perform technical and economic analysis of mine plans and designs. Assist the Mine Technical Superintendent in the development of the business case and LOM. Evaluate trade‑offs and recommend solutions. Prepare reports and written materials related to technical recommendation and improvements to the mine plan and mine design. Other duties as required (ex. monthly reporting, scheduling and budgeting). Area 3: Lead others in a collaborative environment to deliver innovative continuous improvement opportunities. Seek and implement best‑in‑class practices. Harness the advantages of the automated mining system, and ensure technology is an integral part of the design and planning process. Propose new methods to meet challenges of mine engineering. Identify training and development opportunities for the team. Keep abreast of trends in mine engineering and impart to Cote Gold. Provide new approaches, methods or policies to optimize performance and ensure compliance with industry regulations and organizational standards. Continuously seek to improve technical knowledge and skills. Conduct research and benchmarking to support decision‑making and improve mining processes, technologies and methodologies used for the mine. Safety & Sustainability Expectations Maintain a cooperative interest in the health and safety of yourself, your fellow workers and local communities. Wear PPEs at all times if in production environments. Be alert and observe, correct and report unsafe conditions. Follow operating procedures and comply with all regulatory requirements. Ensure that work areas are in compliance with all of Iamgold’s Health and Safety policies and the Occupational Health and Safety Acts in the applicable jurisdiction. Intervene as necessary, to ensure the safety of others in the workplace. Provide safety leadership by always setting a good example. Qualifications Minimum Requirements and Nice To Haves Minimum Qualifications, Formal Education, Certifications or Equivalents Post‑secondary degree in Mine Engineering or a related field is required. Registration (or eligibility to be registered) as an Engineer in Ontario (PEO). Work Experience – Nature & Length A minimum of 10 years of related work experience, with at least 3 years of related leadership experience. Previous experience in open‑pit mining is considered an asset. Additional Qualifications – Competency Requirements Proficiency in computer applications and mining software. Ability to communicate effectively. Ability to work independently and in team settings. Ability to work effectively under pressure. Good observational and analytical skills. Must be able to handle a high level of confidentiality. Ability to collaborate and effectively lead others in a team environment.
