Capital Equipment Project Engineer – Custom Fabrication – CNC & Weld Equipment

  • Custom Manufacturing – Low Volume
  • Initiate Process Flow to accommodate new customer /project requirements
  • Initiate Production Line Modification, Equipment move & relocation, new equipment automation opportunity to accommodate new projects / improve capacity / improve efficiencies
  • Write equipment specifications, initiate capital expenditure feasibility reports ROI select new equipment
  • Train welders, CNC machinists on new weld and custom fabrication requirements
  • Implement Lean to improve modified fabrication cells/ production lines
  • Continuous Improvement of constantly changing process flows

Location: Woodstock - Stratford, ON area

Salary: 80-100K base; benefits

Permanent Full time, On site at the manufacturing site 5 days a week

Our client is a leading manufacturer of custom-built low volume high customization machinery and have a job open for Capital Project Engineer for their Custom Fabrication Plant. The job is based in Woodstock - St. Mary’s – Stratford, ON area. Candidates must have experience of capital project management plant layout modification, equipment installation commissioining decommissioning for large sized equipment ( MUST have )


Capital Equipment Project Engineer is a hands-on role working closely with Plant leadership to ensure all customer requirements / new projects / custom parts manufacturing is accommodated with setting up production lines, improved capacity within the existing site. You will modify plant layout, define process flow, recommend / relocate existing equipment, initiate new equipment installation / commissioning to improve existing capacities / efficiencies and the process flow. You will initiate continuous improvement Lean / Kaizen 5S projects, modify weld cells, automation and select vendors in a hands-on role. Hands -on Installation commissioning experience welding line, certified weld jobs helps. Project delivery, maintaining all milestones for time and budget is a MUST have.


Capital Equipment Project Engineer will ideally have 5-6 years’ experience in custom low volume high fabrication environment; welding lines /equipment installation /commissioning, experience of modification of the existing plant layout, implementing Lean initiatives ,CWB level 2 weld experience are all highly preferred. Excellent English communication skills and an ability to work with all levels of the organisation is a MUST. Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering highly preferred, or formal education in weld processes, certified welders with Manufacturing engineering experience preferred. ‘Low volume- high Customization’ experience is a MUST.
