Associate Director - Information Technology and Business Intelligence Variety – the Children’s Charity is on a path to deepen impact, expand reach, and transform how we support children and families across the province. The Associate Director, Information Technology and Business Intelligence will play a vital role in ensuring our technology infrastructure and core systems are secure, effective, and scalable. Reporting to the Director, Finance and Operations, this role is responsible for the strategy, oversight, and optimization of Variety’s digital platforms—including CRM, fundraising, finance, and granting systems. The successful candidate will ensure data and technology are fully leveraged to support decision‑making, streamline operations, and enable personalized engagement. Key Responsibilities Lead the management and continuous improvement of Variety’s core systems including CRM (Raiser’s Edge), fundraising platforms (e.g., Fundraise Up, Givergy), finance systems, and granting software, ensuring platforms are user‑friendly, reliable, and aligned with the organization’s evolving needs. Experience with peer‑to‑peer or event platforms like TeamRaiser or JustGiving is an asset, as well as experience with web platforms like WordPress. Oversee the integration and optimization of digital tools across departments to support efficient operations and a seamless experience for staff, donors, and families. Manage IT infrastructure and relationships with external vendors to ensure responsive support, cybersecurity, and alignment with best practices. Champion digital transformation initiatives that enable data‑informed decision‑making and empower teams across the organization. Support and maintain Variety’s website platform (e.g., WordPress), ensuring performance, accessibility, security, and integration with other digital tools such as email platforms like MailChimp or Constant Contact. Collaborate with program, fundraising, and finance teams to ensure data accuracy, process efficiency, and alignment across platforms. Manage the organization’s IT infrastructure, including hardware, software, networks, and security systems. Ensure best practices in data security, privacy, and compliance (e.g., CASL, PIPEDA). Data and Business Intelligence Build and scale the organization’s business intelligence capabilities with a focus on impact measurement, performance optimization, and real‑time decision‑making. Develop data architecture, reporting templates, and governance protocols to ensure accuracy, accessibility, and transparency across teams. Ensure data integrity, consistency, and accessibility across systems to support high‑quality reporting and insights. Develop and maintain dashboards, KPIs, and data visualizations (e.g., Power BI) that help teams track progress, assess performance, and make timely, evidence‑based decisions. Collaborate across departments to understand data needs and deliver tailored solutions that strengthen fundraising, programs, and operations. Operational Excellence Recommend and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and effectiveness across systems and workflows. Identify and implement improvements in data collection, reporting, and system usage, ensuring alignment with strategic priorities and user needs. Develop internal documentation, training resources, and standard operating procedures related to digital platforms and analytics. Ensure compliance with data privacy, digital security, and relevant regulatory standards (e.g., CASL, PIPEDA). Qualifications & Experience 10+ years of experience in technology, operations, or systems management, ideally within the nonprofit or social impact sector. Experience with CRM platforms (e.g., Raiser’s Edge and/or Raiser’s Edge NXT, Online Express/NXT Donation forms) and data/reporting tools. Blackbaud certification(s) in Raiser’s Edge and/or Raiser’s Edge NXT an asset. Strong project management and cross‑functional collaboration skills. Demonstrated ability to lead technology or operational improvement initiatives from concept to implementation. Experience with financial and granting systems, with a strong understanding of cross‑functional data flow. Experience with Power BI or similar data visualization tools. Proficient at an intermediate level in Microsoft 365 applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, and Outlook. Basic accounting knowledge is considered an asset. Analytical mindset with a solutions‑oriented approach and strong attention to data integrity and security. Strong communication and relationship‑building skills, with the ability to translate technical language into accessible insights. Proven ability to lead cross‑functional initiatives and deliver scalable, data‑informed solutions in a mission‑driven environment. The hiring salary range for this position is $85,000-$95,000, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
