The Project Engineering Manager will join the Engineering Management practice within the Technical Professional Organization (TPO) of Engineering Services Canada. The Project Engineering Manager will play a lead role in the delivery of Engineering Services on large and complex projects (generally Class 3, 4 & 5 projects) while also supporting the growth of the Engineering Management practice. Reporting to the Director of Operations of the Engineering Management practice, the Project Engineering Manager will contribute to the development of the team's strategy and oversee the successful execution of the engineering design of large, multi-disciplinary projects from inception to completion. In addition, you will collaborate closely with cross‑functional teams, including Project Delivery, Technical TPO, and external stakeholders to deliver high‑quality engineering solutions that meet and exceed client expectations. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, exceptional technical expertise, multi‑disciplinary engineering experience, and a proven track record of managing engineering on large‑scale projects. Your role Engineering Planning and Execution Turbine & Generators, and Hydromechanical Package Management Collaborate with Win Work and Market Lead to define proposal timelines, deliverables and efforts, ensuring alignment with client requirements and overall business objectives. Collaborate with Project Delivery team to define project goals, timelines, and deliverables, ensuring alignment with client requirements and overall business objectives during the planning and execution phases. Oversee the engineering project lifecycle, including design, development, testing, and implementation, while managing technical risk and resources effectively. Oversee the Project Design Execution Plan and the inter‑disciplinary technical coordination. Ensure effort estimates, schedule, deliverables and obligations associated with the scope of work are fully understood, identified, adhered to and monitored. Prepare and submit project monthly reporting to the Engineering Management Director responsible for a Market. Technical Expertise and Quality Assurance Provide technical guidance and expertise to the engineering team, ensuring the use of industry best practices and standards and promoting continuous improvement initiatives to enhance engineering processes, methodologies, and tools, driving efficiency and productivity. Conduct regular reviews and quality assessments of engineering deliverables, ensuring compliance with project requirements, specifications, and quality standards in addition to promoting a Value Engineering culture throughout the project life cycle. Stakeholder Collaboration Collaborate closely with internal and external stakeholders, including clients, architects, vendors, contractors, and regulatory authorities, to ensure project success. Engage in effective communication, providing regular engineering updates, addressing concerns, and managing expectations to foster strong client relationships. Actively participate in meetings, presentations, and technical discussions, representing the engineering team and providing expert insights and recommendations. About You Bachelor's or master's degree in engineering or a related field with 10+ years of experience in a relevant field. Minimum 5 years of experience in engineering management, overseeing complex engineering projects and leading multidisciplinary teams. Ability to obtain relevant professional designation in multiple jurisdictions across Canada. Ability to travel or mobilize to project sites as required for the project. Proven experience managing engineering execution of large scale civil and structural engineering projects in the following types of hydro‑electric projects: Power generation projects, including dam infrastructure, powerhouses, turbines, penstocks, spillways, and substations. Projects including concrete structures, water conveyance systems, and geotechnical considerations. Proven experience managing engineering execution of large scale civil and structural engineering projects in the following types of hydro‑electric projects (additional details): Power generation projects, including dam infrastructure, powerhouses, turbines, penstocks, spillways, and substations. Experience managing the engineering and integration of turbines, generators, hydro‑mechanical components. Ability to collaborate with OEMs, suppliers, vendors to ensure technical compliance, performance optimization and installation. Experience with rehabilitation, life extension, and modernization of aging hydro facilities, including structural reinforcements, mechanical systems overhauls, electrical upgrades, and dam safety improvements. Strong technical expertise and exceptional problem‑solving and decision‑making abilities, with a keen eye for detail and a commitment to delivering high‑quality results in a relevant engineering discipline, with a deep understanding of engineering principles, methodologies, and best practices. Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to present complex technical information to diverse audiences (both French and English are an asset). Bilingual: English/French. Expected compensation for this role is between Pay Range $114,800 – $157,900 annually. Base salaries are determined according to several parameters like skills, experience, and potential impact on the role.
