Vancouver, Canada Invinity Energy Systems Full time

Energy storage is one of the most exciting areas in energy today. Massive amounts of storage are required if renewable energy is to take its rightful place on the electric grid. Invinity provides an alternative to lithium-ion batteries because the technology that works so well in our pockets doesn’t work at grid scale—it wears out, limits use, and even catches fire. Manufactured as a standardized product in a factory, Invinity’s vanadium flow batteries don’t degrade, won’t catch fire, and can operate continuously from full charge to full discharge for 25 years. With over 75,000 kilowatt-hours deployed across 82 projects in 15 countries, we lead the industry in flow battery technology. Supported by global investors and government agencies, we’re scaling rapidly to meet the world’s demand for safe, long‑duration energy storage. Join us as we transform renewable energy into a stable and dependable contributor to the transition to net zero. Role Overview We are seeking a Manufacturing Development Engineer to join our Product Development organization. Reporting to the Director of Stack Development, you will play a key role in developing and optimizing manufacturing processes for Invinity’s next‑generation vanadium flow battery stacks. This includes investigating automation options, evaluating process improvements, and designing jigs and fixtures to enable efficient, high‑quality production. Responsibilities Investigate and propose innovative solutions for manufacturing processes, including automation, to improve efficiency, consistency, and reduce cycle times. Evaluate existing processes and identify opportunities for optimization and cost reduction. Design and develop jigs, fixtures, and tooling to support assembly and manufacturing operations. Create and maintain associated documentation and drawings. Collaborate with cross‑functional teams including design, supply chain, production and quality to ensure manufacturability and scalability of designs and processes. Support implementation of inspection systems for defect detection in thin‑film materials and other critical components. Participate in manufacturing equipment specification, identification, selection and qualification for roll converting and pick‑and‑place processes. Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and resolution of manufacturing issues. Maintain compliance with internal standards and regulatory requirements. Requirements Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related field. 4–7 years of experience in manufacturing process development or industrial engineering. Proficiency in CAD software (OnShape, SolidWorks, Creo, or similar) for fixture and tooling design. Strong understanding of manufacturing principles, automation, and process optimization. Experience with automated manufacturing processes including roll converting processes and pick‑and‑place. Familiarity with inspection systems for thin‑film materials and defect detection. Excellent problem‑solving skills and ability to work collaboratively in a fast‑paced environment. Strong documentation and communication skills. Assets Experience with flow batteries, fuel cells, or similar electrochemical systems. Experience with PLM systems and documentation standards. Knowledge of lean manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies. Hands‑on experience with jig and fixture fabrication and testing. Project management experience. Exposure to PLC programming or automation system integration. $105,000 - $120,000 a year The salary for this position ranges from $105,000 to $120,000 based on experience and qualifications. Invinity Energy Systems is committed to wage transparency and equal employment opportunities. If you are passionate about manufacturing innovation, eager to optimize processes, and motivated by making a difference in the world, consider joining us. At Invinity, every team member plays a critical role in landmark clean energy projects worldwide.
