Canada’s Scientific Research and Experimental Development (SR&ED) program is one of the country’s largest tax incentive programs. It is intended to create a supportive environment for Canadians to carry out research and development (R&D) and foster technological innovation. KPMG’s Tax Incentives Practice (TIP) consists of a multi-disciplinary team of engineers and accountants that assist our clients to obtain tax savings through incentive programs like SR&ED. KPMG is currently seeking to add a Manager to the team with a solid engineering background that has a desire to be exposed to new state‑of‑the‑art innovations in a wide range of industries. In this role you will assist our clients in identifying eligible SR&ED activities and describe these activities in a technical report. We will provide you with specialized training on Canada’s SR&ED Tax Incentive Program which encourages businesses operating in Canada to develop new products or processes or improve existing ones in the field of science or technology. What You Will Do Be exposed to new and exciting technologies and state‑of‑the‑art innovations in a range of industries with a focus on mechanical/chemical engineering Work with Senior Managers, participating in and supporting client technical interviews and examining operations to identify SR&ED eligible projects/activities Assist in the preparation and review of SR&ED claims submissions Develop a Project Management Plan, organize and execute multiple engagements on time and within budget Client Management: Successfully develop and manage client relationships What You Bring To The Role A university degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering or related field 3-5 years of progressive experience as a senior SR&ED consultant/manager is a must Experience in other R&D related government tax incentive programs is an asset Ability to conduct conversations to understand root causes for technical/scientific issues and understand key development concepts in R&D scope Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office Tools (Excel, Word, etc.) Keen interest in staying up‑to‑date with cutting‑edge technologies and trends Analytical thinker who can draw inferences and make unexpected connections Highly driven, autonomous, resilient and team player with a strong work ethic Our Values, The KPMG Way Integrity, we do what is right | Excellence, we never stop learning and improving | Courage, we think and act boldly | Together, we respect each other and draw strength from our differences | For Better, we do what matters KPMG in Canada is a proud equal opportunities employer and we are committed to creating a respectful, inclusive and barrier‑free workplace that allows all of our people to reach their full potential.
