About the Foundation The Louis Brier Jewish Aged Foundation advances excellence in elder care by supporting the Louis Brier Home and Hospital and the Weinberg Residence, the only Jewish long‑term care and assisted living communities in British Columbia. Through philanthropy, stewardship, and community partnership, the Foundation ensures that seniors receive high‑quality care within a culturally Jewish, values‑based environment. The Opportunity The Louis Brier Jewish Aged Foundation is seeking an accomplished and relationship‑driven Executive Director to lead its philanthropic strategy and operations. Reporting to the Board of Directors, this role serves as the Foundation’s senior executive and chief ambassador, responsible for advancing fundraising growth, strengthening donor relationships, and ensuring exemplary stewardship and governance. This position is comparable to a Chief Development Officer–level role in a healthcare foundation, combining enterprise fundraising leadership with operational accountability and close Board partnership. The Executive Director will play a central role in positioning the Foundation for sustained growth and long‑term impact. Key Accountabilities Strategic and Executive Leadership Lead the Foundation’s overall strategy, performance, and organizational effectiveness in alignment with its mission and values. Develop and execute a multi‑year fundraising strategy aligned with priority operating and capital needs of the Louis Brier Home and Hospital and the Weinberg Residence. Serve as the primary senior executive supporting the Board, providing clear recommendations, performance reporting, and strategic insight. Fund Development and Major Gifts Lead a diversified fundraising portfolio including major gifts, planned giving, annual giving, corporate and foundation support, community fundraising, and special events. Personally manage a portfolio of senior donors and prospects, with a strong emphasis on relationship‑based philanthropy and five‑, six‑, and seven‑figure gifts. Guide the development of compelling cases for support, donor proposals, and customized stewardship strategies. Build and monitor a robust donor pipeline using data, dashboards, and performance metrics. Donor Relations, Stewardship, and Community Presence Act as a visible and trusted ambassador for the Foundation within the Jewish community and the broader philanthropic and healthcare sectors. Ensure donor experiences reflect professionalism, gratitude, transparency, and cultural sensitivity. Oversee donor communications, recognition, and impact reporting to strengthen long‑term engagement and trust. Board Partnership and Governance Work closely with the Board Chair and committees to advance governance, fundraising leadership, and accountability. Support Board members in their roles as ambassadors and philanthropic partners. Prepare high‑quality materials for Board and committee meetings, including fundraising performance, risk, and opportunity analysis. Partnership with Care Organizations Collaborate closely with senior leadership at the Louis Brier Home and Hospital and the Weinberg Residence to align fundraising priorities with organizational needs. Translate clinical, operational, and capital priorities into clear, fundable opportunities for donors. Strengthen and maintain the relationship between the Foundation and the care organizations through regular communication and shared planning. Financial Stewardship and Operations Oversee Foundation budgeting, financial planning, and internal controls in collaboration with finance professionals. Ensure accurate management and reporting of restricted and unrestricted funds, endowments, and donor‑directed gifts. Ensure disbursement of funds is transparent, timely, Board‑approved, and aligned with donor intent. Oversee Foundation operations, systems, vendors, and staff/contractors to ensure efficiency and accountability. Ethics, Compliance, and Risk Management Ensure fundraising practices align with CRA requirements, donor privacy legislation, and recognized ethical standards. Uphold the highest standards of confidentiality, integrity, and professionalism in all donor and organizational matters. Experience and Qualifications Required Minimum 5–7 years of senior fundraising leadership experience, preferably in healthcare, seniors care, or a complex non‑profit environment. Demonstrated success in major gift fundraising and donor relationship management. Proven experience working with Boards of Directors and senior volunteers. Strong strategic, analytical, and financial acumen, including knowledge of restricted funds and endowments. Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to engage donors, volunteers, and senior stakeholders with credibility and warmth. Experience with donor management systems (Keela or equivalent). Preferred Undergraduate degree required; advanced education or CFRE designation is an asset. Familiarity with the Jewish community in Metro Vancouver and comfort working in a culturally Jewish environment. Experience supporting capital campaigns or periods of organizational growth. Strong, collaborative relationships across the Foundation and care organizations. Working Environment This role requires regular in‑person engagement with donors, Board members, and partners. Occasional evening and weekend commitments are expected. Local travel within Metro Vancouver is required.
