Staff Product Engineer, Canada at Ashby Base pay range: $173,000.00/yr - $326,000.00/yr Overview Hi I’m Abhik, Ashby's Co-Founder and VP of Engineering. We’re looking for a versatile, persistent product engineer who can set up reusable building blocks across the stack and advocate for the time and space to do so. You’ll work with customers like Notion, Linear, Shopify, and Snowflake and ship features that reach tens of thousands of daily users. Role As a Product Engineer you’ll take ownership over a large portion of a product and own projects end‑to‑end—wearing hats traditionally worn by product and design. You’ll research competitors, write product specs, make wireframes, and build the final solution. Designed and built automated interview scheduling—calculating possible times from a pool and presenting candidate options in our web app. Built a generalized declarative filter architecture allowing users to create complex filters and compile them to SQL. SPECCED, designed, and implemented a feature that lets users complete signing offers entirely within Ashby. What We’re Building We’re creating intelligent, powerful talent‑acquisition software that automates scheduling, tracks interviewer load, and provides insights into inefficiencies. Our goal is to give TA teams the highest standard of tooling. Qualifications Comfortable tackling any part of the stack—frontend, backend, infrastructure. Experience with product and technical ambiguity; thrive at the intersection of product and engineering. Balance speed and quality; deliver high‑quality code quickly. Ambitious, always learning, open to feedback. Excellent collaborator and communicator; vet decisions with stakeholders. Leverage work—build abstractions and tools to streamline processes. First Three Months Onboarding includes single‑script dev environment set up, first product change on day 1, and a series of product changes of increasing scope.
