Business Group Leader (Ontario Engineering Design Organization) Join a global professional services leader. GHD is looking for a Vice President – Engineering Design Organization (Business Group Leader) to lead our Ontario Region Engineering Design team servicing Ontario and North America. The role collaborates closely with the Ontario General Manager and the North American EDO Leader to deliver design projects across Water, Transportation, Property and Buildings, Energy and Resources, and Environment, while also supporting bids and proposals to grow GHD’s presence and market share. The Business Group Leader will provide leadership for design projects and mentor a team of more than 200 engineers, architects, and technical specialists. This role is part of a hybrid work model, with office presence 3 days a week from GTA offices (Toronto, Mississauga, Markham, Whitby). Responsibilities Develop and support business opportunities, ensuring sustainable growth of EDO services. Manage Business Group performance, people, and resources. Align closely with more than twenty Business Groups in Ontario regarding project pursuits, staffing, workload planning, and delivery excellence. Provide vision and direction for Ontario EDO business, linking with GHD’s North America market strategy and contributing to the region market strategy. Build and maintain relationships with regional BGLs, other regional EDO leaders, and market leaders, both within and outside the region. Provide leadership in line with GHD’s values of Safety, Teamwork, Respect, and Integrity. Qualifications 15+ years of professional experience within an engineering consultancy. Professional engineering designation in a Canadian province (US licenses considered an asset). Proven background managing a large multidisciplinary engineering design delivery organization. Detailed knowledge of different project delivery methods/models for various markets. Demonstrated technical capability across all project phases, from planning to detailed design and construction services. Experience leading projects from proposal through delivery to closeout. Effective networking and relationship management skills. Ability to develop lasting internal and external relationships based on trust and delivery excellence. Mentorship and training skills, building a strong team of skilled professionals. Obsessive drive for delivery excellence, exceeding client expectations, and achieving financial success.
