JAYS CARE RBI SUMMER EDITION PROGRAM DIRECTOR Jays Care is looking for Program Directors to engage and lead youth (ages 6-13) in creative & dynamic camp and baseball activities during our Jays Care RBI Summer Edition program. They will also manage a team of up to 10 Activity Leaders. Successful Summer Edition applicants will have experience leading recreational & baseball activities and working with children. A foundational understanding of baseball is an asset. This position is part of our annual seasonal staffing needs. All interested applicants should be aware that this is an in‑person role, employed by Jays Care with a seasonal fixed‑term contract. Camp staff are expected to be present at their designated job site each day of their summer contract, as well as attend all mandatory staff training. RBI Summer Edition (July & August) runs distinct from RBI Spring (April to June). Coaches hired for the Jays Care Spring program are eligible and encouraged to apply to work for RBI Summer Edition. REPORTS TO: Jays Care RBI Summer Edition Site Manager CONTRACT DURATION: April 1, 2026 – August 21, 2026 5‑10 hours/month (April to May) 10‑35 hours/week (June) 35‑45 hours/week (July to August) SALARY: The anticipated base compensation for this role is $27.00 per hour. POSITION STATUS: New WORK LOCATIONS: Assigned to one of 8 schools within the TDSB (Toronto District School Board) (applicant will have opportunity to indicate location preference). Jays Care RBI Summer Edition Program Director will: Serve as program leader, overseeing activities for approximately 200 youth participants Lead and delegate roles to a team of up to 10 Activity Leaders (program team) and up to 30 more frontline staff within the site Working with the program team, create a robust and engaging 6‑week programming calendar, incorporating baseball, leadership, creative arts, and special events Ensure that the programming calendar is kept up to date and distributed among staff on time Develop and plan opportunities for field trips, liaising with administrative staff to define and accommodate logistical needs Support the implementation of baseball tournaments Solicit and act on program feedback from staff and youth participants Connect with staff about day‑to‑day programming and identify opportunities for staff to take on leadership roles Assess, plan for, and make in‑store purchases of supplies and materials required for summer programming Provide leadership, mentorship, and effective problem‑solving strategies to both youth and staff, serving as a positive role model and demonstrating strong leadership and decision‑making skills Participate in a dynamic training to provide you with all the tools needed to lead a positive and safe program environment Ensure that effective safety protocols are followed, including physical, emotional, and site safety measures Address any behaviour concerns immediately using Jays Care RBI Summer Edition behaviour management protocols and guidelines Our Ideal Candidate: Prior leadership experience in a youth‑centred environment (sports teams, camps, schools, clubs) Prior baseball knowledge is an asset, but no advanced skill is required Demonstrate experience organizing and leading recreational programs for large groups of youth Demonstrate experience in planning program activities and programming schedules Mature and capable of working independently Dynamic leader who can engage with staff and caring adults Ability to respond to new and changing situations Safe, inclusive, and thoughtful Open‑minded and able to accommodate the needs of a diverse population Capable of leading large teams and small teams Applicant has graduated secondary school by the beginning of the contract At Jays Care Foundation: We boast a warm, welcoming and supportive team culture We offer a wide variety of opportunities to develop your leadership potential and grow your resume with new skills and experiences You will have opportunities to win monetary scholarships for college/university and staff recognition awards/prizes (with great Blue Jays swag) Work alongside friendly and inspiring young leaders from your community and beyond At Jays Care, you’ll be part of a passionate team committed to growing the game of baseball while helping kids develop life skills that last a lifetime.
