Senior Manager, Production Technology Support (T&I) (Telework/Hybrid) Permanent position. Language requirement: English and French. At CBC/Radio-Canada, we create content that informs, entertains and connects Canadians on multiple platforms. Our successes and accomplishments are driven by embodying and upholding values, which include creativity, integrity, inclusiveness and relevance. We want someone who can keep up with this exciting, ever-changing industry. Whether in front of the camera, on air, online or behind the scenes, you would be joining a team that thrives on making connections and telling stories that are important to Canadians. Technology & Infrastructure (T&I) team is the backbone and future-forward arm of CBC/Radio-Canada. We make connections between media content, systems, people and places. We are the space in between. A place with purpose. CBC/Radio-Canada has always been a highly regarded pioneer of media technology. Today, we’re transforming from a conventional radio and television broadcaster into a modern digital media company. Technology is the driving force and we are the team making it happen. This is a hybrid position with a mix of in-office and remote work, but some on-site presence is required. Work arrangements will be discussed with hiring managers per departmental guidelines. What’s In It For You Cutting-edge tech. Our media company has transitioned to IP infrastructure, including establishing a brand-new all-IP broadcast facility that provides virtually unlimited flexibility across multiple platforms. As part of CBC/Radio-Canada, a leader in this area, you’ll gain unparalleled hands‑on experience and exposure to tools and processes that are currently sought after by other media companies. Be part of a diverse and inclusive team and organization. We celebrate human differences and are committed to doing the work to become the best public broadcaster for all Canadians. You’ll have opportunities to participate in our diversity and inclusion initiatives, including but not limited to Emerging Leadership Training and Unconscious Bias training. We’re a continuously innovative, learning and growing organization. This means a chance to be part of that change whether you’re an idea generator or an executor. We offer a rare‑in‑tech work‑life balance, professional development opportunities internally and externally, and the support of your manager to pursue the next steps in your career. What You’ll Do We’re currently looking for a Senior Manager, Production Technology Support, who will report to the Director, Montreal Infrastructure Solutions. In this position, you’ll be a strategic, engaging leader and collaborator responsible for managing the technology support teams for CBC/Radio-Canada’s News, Radio, Television and Communications departments in Montreal. Your mission is to streamline the employee experience by providing support teams with guidance on best troubleshooting practices. You’ll work closely with directors and managers to shape operational and strategic direction. As the primary point of contact for our production units, your team plays a vital role not only in rapid problem‑solving but also in proactive initiatives like continuous training, preventative maintenance and regular risk assessments. Your leadership will ensure we anticipate challenges, optimize performance and maintain a smooth, secure production environment. Responsibilities Lead, develop, mentor and support the team responsible for technical support of mission‑critical broadcast systems in Montreal (supporting staff for News, Radio and General Television at Maison de Radio‑Canada and Studio Grandé). Liaise with production partners, ensuring ongoing support requirements are met 24-7. Promote the importance of production services and technical support to ensure the highest quality of service across the organization. React quickly and effectively when systems are in crisis or exhibit chronic issues, marshalling appropriate internal and external resources for timely and effective troubleshooting and resolution. Develop and manage relationships with vendors of all support systems and equipment. Maintain effective relationships with other departments (Production, Engineering, Enterprise Applications, Human Resources, Finance, etc.). With the Director, strategize and implement optimum configuration of support departments in support of corporate direction and initiatives, such as the evolution of broadcast systems. Organize, maintain and implement an effective training plan for all staff. Manage the overall departmental budget with the Director. Review and approve expenses for parts, equipment and related expenditures. Optimize technical support within production workflows and drive continuous improvements to business processes and technology solutions. Develop, organize and manage service ticket, licensing and documentation workflows. What You Bring Extensive experience leading technical support teams within a production environment. Focus on supporting and engaging the people in your team, by being present, listening to them and actively involving them in finding solutions. Openness to change and new solutions/technologies while fostering an innovative, collaborative team dynamic. Strong partner focus. Ability to de‑escalate tense situations. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to deal with people at all levels of the Corporation and external/internal clients, demonstrating high‑quality written and oral communication skills and diplomacy to effectively handle difficult situations. Knowledge of management practices, including supervision and professional staff leadership, as well as internal practices and procedures relating to budgeting, staffing, procurement, contract management, etc. Ability to help people achieve their goals. Understanding of core broadcast technology and infrastructure. Engaging leadership that fosters a respectful, supportive and open‑minded culture in your team. Five or more years’ experience in a management role. University degree in management, or a combination of training and experience deemed relevant. Bilingualism: Proficiency in both English and French required. Candidates may be subject to skills and knowledge testing. We thank all applicants for their interest, but only candidates selected for an interview will be contacted. Background Checks A mandatory Criminal record check. Other background checks may be conducted based on the operational requirements of the position. CBC/Radio-Canada is committed to being a leader in reflecting our country’s diversity.
