Zurich Canada is currently seeking an Associate Actuary to play a key role within our Central Actuarial Planning Team, driving actuarial excellence through a robust actuarial loss planning framework, advanced forecasting techniques, and data-driven analysis that supports financial planning, forecasting and other PPM initiatives for Zurich North American business. Reporting to the VP & Actuarial Director, you will be a central actuarial resource within Zurich North America’s Planning & Performance Management function, leading the actuarial loss planning framework. You will collaborate across Reserving, Pricing, PPM, and Group Actuarial teams to provide technical guidance, support strategic decision-making, and deliver actionable insights that drive financial planning and performance management. What you will do Play a key role in shaping Zurich North America’s financial plan through actuarial insights and advanced analytics. Ensure plan assumptions and methodologies align with Group standards and business unit reserving practices. Develop and maintain a robust loss planning infrastructure, continuously applying new techniques to enhance processes and improve analytical depth. Perform detailed calculations of IFRS 17 components—including discount rates, risk adjustment, and loss component ensuring methodological rigor, compliance with standards, and accuracy in financial reporting. Identify risks and opportunities impacting the ZNA plan and communicate actionable insights. Serve as a communication liaison between Reserving, Pricing, PPM, Group Actuarial, and other stakeholders to ensure alignment and transparency. Collaborate with ZNA PPM, Chief Actuary, CFO, and Group stakeholders to communicate actuarial perspectives and influence strategic decisions. Deliver meaningful analysis beyond mechanics, highlighting trends, anomalies, and strategic implications that drive business performance. Job Qualifications - What you bring to the table Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice, including Associates Degree OR Bachelor’s Degree AND 5 or more years of experience in the actuarial area plus FCAS or equivalent international certification OR 10 or more years of experience in the actuarial area plus ACAS or equivalent international certification Preferred: Experience in multiple functional areas (pricing, reserving, capital management) and knowledge / skills reflective of a senior practitioner AND Advanced analytical thinking and actuarial modeling skills Intermediate business acumen and effective communication abilities Strong knowledge of insurance finance, reserving, and pricing concepts Proficiency in statistics and product development Strong verbal and written communication skills Our Culture At Zurich, we are proud of our culture.
