We're on the hunt for people ready to jump in and join us while we simplify the lives of healthcare practitioners and patients daily. Jane is a remote‑first company, meaning every role at Jane, including this one, is remote – giving you the freedom to work from any corner of Canada. Learn More About Us We are founder‑led, living our values while maintaining a clear vision for the future. Our product enables physiotherapists, mental health counsellors, chiropractors, and other allied health practitioners to run their practices digitally through online booking, charting, scheduling, telehealth, secure payments, and billing, along with an evolving library of features. We set a high bar for quality of work and care for each other and our customers. The bar is raised by patients, staff, and our customers, and we continually improve. It’s not just what you’ve done before or how quickly you work; it’s your curiosity, drive, and agility in learning new ways of thinking. No doubt, Jane is a special place to work. We give autonomy and flexibility for you to integrate work into your life—need to block out time? We’ll support you. We have Slack channels for everything from plants and pets to wellness and pride. We also connect in person throughout the year with retreats, company get‑togethers, and conferences. We’re searching for people ready to dive in and become part of our journey to make healthcare professionals’ lives easier every single day. If you love solving problems, are resourceful, and thrive in a fast‑moving environment, we want to hear from you. Your Role In Our Journey We’re looking for a Staff Software Developer to join Jane’s Scheduling team. This team designs and builds all scheduling experiences—including staff and appointment scheduling, online booking, classes, and resource management. The technology handles complex, real‑world scenarios at scale—multi‑location availability, resource constraints, classes and groups, and high‑traffic online booking. As a Staff Developer, you’ll guide the evolution of Jane’s scheduling architecture, modernizing legacy systems into modular, scalable services while maintaining reliability and performance. You’ll shape technical direction, align system design with product strategy, and support the team as they build a resilient and extensible foundation for Jane’s platform. You’ll be part architect, part builder, and part mentor—ensuring Scheduling remains a critical, high‑performing domain. The Impact You Could Have Drive the modernization of our scheduling codebase with modular, maintainable patterns that enable future growth and integrations across Jane’s ecosystem. Design and deliver core scheduling and booking capabilities for both admin and online flows, leveraging full‑stack expertise. Collaborate closely with Marketplace, Mobile, and Grow My Clinic teams to build robust APIs and data flows that power scheduling‑driven experiences throughout Jane. Represent Scheduling in company‑wide architecture discussions. Identify and address performance bottlenecks, technical debt, and scalability challenges; improve observability and monitoring to keep Scheduling performant under heavy load. Guide and coach developers across levels—design reviews, pairing, documentation—fostering architectural thinking and technical excellence. Leverage AI tools for productivity, testing, and code quality; explore how AI‑based integrations could shape future scheduling automation. Build with empathy for practitioners and patients—understand how scheduling impacts the broader Jane experience and design with reliability, clarity, and usability in mind. The Experience We Feel We Need University Degree in Computer or a related STEM field plus approx. 10+ years of experience. Master’s or PhD may be considered with less experience. Alternatively, 13+ years of industry experience via non‑traditional paths is encouraged. Depth and diversity of experience, operating at the Staff level, across multiple products and companies, bringing a well‑rounded perspective on development methodologies and teamwork. Extensive experience in design and architecture, making impactful decisions across more than one team and aligning with organizational goals. Proven leadership of technical efforts across multiple teams, driving decisions and establishing best practices that uphold high standards. Hands‑on coding while leading teams—balancing code and high‑level strategy. Active involvement in creating technical roadmaps that align engineering with strategic business goals; partnering with leadership to influence business direction. Clear communication of complex technical solutions to technical and non‑technical stakeholders, collaborating with Product Managers, Designers, and others to ensure cohesive product development. Compensation & Benefits Annual salary range: $158,400 to $247,500 . Most new hires join at the accomplished stage, with an annual salary of $188,100 . Salaries above this typically reflect existing team members who have made a significant impact. We pay for growth—in line with your experience and contributions. We offer a comprehensive benefits package. Learn more here At Jane, we champion an inclusive, equitable, and diverse workplace. We actively recognize, embrace, and celebrate differences.
